I don't get it????

After seeing in many other threads a certain member liberally use the term "honky," I just don't gey it! Why is the "N" word so offensive, but the term "honky" is supposed to be OK? Do two wrongs actually make a right?

I don't take offense because it's just a name that someone I don't know says. It's only offensive if you let it be offensive, and it's just not worth the time or energy. Some people feel that everyone is out to get them, and that they're kept down those people and not themselves. That's why they make such a big deal of it.

Normally, this is not offensive to me. Some of my best friends are black.
It's just that to some people it is offensive to be called the "N" word, but it is expected that we should not be offended by their slurrs!
It is awful naive to think that this world will ever be truly color blind! I wish that it was color blind, but it is not! Even the most un-racist people see in color, when you get down to it! We may not choose to discriminate, but when you get down to the brass tacks, we see in color, in many ways! However, just because slavery was legal until the civil war, and discrimination was still rampant into the 1960's, does not mean that for the next two hundred years that, white people should have to give up their place in line every time a black person comes in the door!
You want to talk discrimination, talk to an American Indian!

Who cares about either? In this country the majority may not speak ill of the minority. The reverse is not true however. As usual B.S.

Some very ingrained/ learned? ideas in society about racisim etc.

Bill cosby maybe getting wiser with age.

I remember when that black girl( tawana brady?) was kidnaped& raped & He( bill cosby) was very upset about the use of the n word in the case. More important then that she was attacked& raped &assulted it seemed .
Turned out not to be white racist attackers but a fabracted story on her part.
