Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Tax Day

Every year an independent tax watchdog group analyzes the average tax burden on Americans, and then calculates the "Tax Freedom Day". This is the day after which the money you earn goes to you, not the government.

This year, tax freedom day was April 11th. That's the
earliest it has been since 1991. It's latest day ever was May 2nd, which occurred in 2000.

Notice anything special about those dates?
Who was President during that time?
What was his party affiliation?

John Kerry gave a speech in which he claimed
Americans are actually paying more taxes under Bush, despite the tax cuts. He gave no explanation and provided no data for this claim.

Another interesting fact: Both George Bush and John Kerry
are wealthy men. Bush owns only one home, his ranch in Texas. Kerry owns 4 mansions, all worth several million dollars. (His ski resort home in Idaho is an old barn brought over from Europe in pieces. Not your average A-frame).

Bush paid $250,000 in taxes this year; Kerry paid $90,000.
Does that sound right? The man who wants to raise our taxes obviously has figured out a way to avoid paying his own

Yeah we have two of the wealthiest Senators in history running as canidates who will work for the middle class. They have no idea who we are! Even though the Dems have been saying that in every election since the 60's some of the idiots in America who have been voting Democrat will think this is finally the year they will actually do it. It's a joke! They have no intention other than continuing to rape us with their taxes. They get the tax breaks the lazy get the social services and we hold the bills. The John and John ticket would send America to the toilet. Also the arguement that the rich corporations are the evil ones is tired and worn out. Have any of you ever been employed by someone who's poor? We need rich people in America. They work for their money and the politicians want to reward the lazy people.

It's true, but the reason will never be explaind or understood by a democrat. The percentage decrease allows more money to flow into the economy, companies expand their operations expending dollars buying materials and hiring people and as a by product more tax revenue is generated for the government.
This worked for Kennedy, Reagan and now for Bush but the Dems can never admit it.

I think its more than them just admitting it, I don't think they can actually comprehend it and how our economy works.

I heard a commentary on the radio about Edward's use of a tax loohole that is counter to every Democratic position on taxes. I don't remember the specifics, so forgive me...

When he won that huge medical malpractice settlement (or verdict .. I don't remember), Edwards would have had to pay $650,000 in medicare tax (money that would have helped out the struggling system.) Instead, he started an S corporation in which he was the sole employee. The court winnings (his share of course) became capital of the corporation, from which he drew a salary of around $360,000 per year for several years. In doing so, he only had to pay a fraction of the medicare tax.

Again, I heard this on the radio, and some of the facts may be inaccurate, but you get the gist of the story.

Of course democrats can only complain about health care costs and the rich not paying enough taxes...[:'(]

What do you expect? Lawyers are, by nature, out to screw the system and the rest of us.
