Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Kenny "Boy" Lay

I'm sure everyone has either heard/seen/read that Mr. Lay was indicted and arrested by the Feds on multiple counts, including Fraud.

My question is, does this hurt or help the GW re-election campaign?

I'm split on this...obviously, it hurts because old accusations and relationships between Lay and GW will resurface, bringing doubt to some undecided voters' minds...

On the other hand, it also illustrates that the government went forward and indicted/arrested a friend of GW's...during an election year...

I think it will reinforce GB's position of strength with regard to law enforcement . That scum wallowed in the public trough and hurt millions during Klintoon , and now he'll get his just desserts under Bush as he deserves . It will only help Bush .

Well considering the other side of the Lay story is untold i don't know how it will affect GW. All I know is that Enrons scheme and greediness were well and alive in the 90's and that is when the major damage was done. They tanked in 2001 so I find it hard to believe they behaved well and did all those people in 1 year or since Bush2 was elected . Mr Lay was a visitor to the WH during Clintons regime and even slept in the famous Lincoln Bedroom but you know how the media is about releasing that sort of info.

OEH,

You hit the nail on the head, when you eluded to media spin. This happened late last week and I've seen almost 10 stories in my state paper, on pages 1-4, since then.

This will make news during this election year, and it will surface during the debates. Especially since the debates forum has changed, with different moderators now for each session.

Will help GW...but, knowing the media, they will tie him to Lay somehow and that he and Bush planned 9/11 and paid dwarves from ethiopia to make up some stuff on iraq so we could invade there and conquer the world...

Its fuel for dems and republicans, just depends on how you look at it. Dems might see it as Dubya's friend going to prison, republicans probably see it as a being tough, especially during election time.
