The Armed Citizen, or how to get a cop when you need one.....
HOW TO GET THE POLICE ......
George Phillips of Meridian Mississippi was going up to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said no. Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply
lock his door and an officer would be along when available.
George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again "Hello I just called you
a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now cause I've just shot them all." Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips residence. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
True Story!

When I lived in Sacramento my neighbor couldn't sleep, he was sitting on his sofa in his living room with the lights out and saw this guy he didn't know walk by. Jerry gets up to see what the guy is up to, the guy pops the hood on a car and using a pair of wire cutters and pliers started to steal the battery. Jerry called the police and they said they would send some one. Well the guy finishes getting the battery and calmly walks away..... no cops!!! About 15 minutes later the guy comes back and starts to steal another battery from another car, Jerry called the police and told them forget about the police, just send an ambulance because he shot the dude when he come back for another battery!!! Well within 3 minutes there were at least 6 cop cars there and they caught the guy in the act, the cops knocked on Jerry's door and asked him why he told dispatch he had shot the guy, Jerry told them that the guy had already stole one battery and they didn't show up so he figured he would see how quick they would respond to a shooting! LOL The cops were a little POed, but they did get the bad guy.

Ya it's amazing how much they really protect and serve sometimes....I do beleive for the most part they do great but their policies can stink sometimes...I got my truck broke into once, they got my fannypack,my camo clothes, hunting boots, spotting scope and even a set of small forked horn antlers? The copes wouldn't even come out because it was less than $500. I told them two things, 1) there's finger prints on the window, they said they don't do finger prints?What...yet they want mine for a CCP? And two) I told them if they could find the guy, I won't press charges I just want them to bring him over so I can whoop up on him...They reall didn't like that...I told them it'd be cheaper than the court system.

That is not their job.
the slogan is a lie. They DO NOT have to protect you. Any cop that is not a lying sack of excrement will tell you the same thing. They are not legally bound to protect you.

A friend of mine living in LA had some rifle fire coming in his livingroom window one evening. He called the LAPD, who NEVER showed up! He bought a Mini-14, and decided the next time he'd handle the matter himself! Fortunately, he never had to!

You live in the wrong area trapper T. At my agency, we still go out to barking dog calls and we go out to ALL theft calls.
Just last night, I stopped at Longs to pick up a deer hunting zone map. A nearby restaurant owner asked me to contact a customer who had wrote her a check on a closed account. While walking back to my car, a customer came out of Longs and said 3 black guys walking across the parking lot had shoplifted a pair of earrings and Longs had called the cops. I had the guys accompany me back into the store and recovered the earrings for the store. The manager decided to make the guys pay for a pair of earrings and let them off the hook with no prosecution and they were permanently 86'd from the store. I chewed the kid out for making a dumb decision and he was happier than a clam to get a break. Worked for me.
I then went over to the bad check writer's apartment and explained to his girlfriend that he had the weekend to go make good on the check or I would be arresting him. I just love getting wives and girlfriends involved. Then the guys HAVE to take care of business or they ain't gonna be happy at home. I called the restaurant owner back and told her I would stop by next week to make sure the guy paid up on the check. Like I said, you live in the wrong area.

In response to el deguello's initial post, some agencies sure are different. We'd have at least 2-3 cars and a K9 unit running code 3 just to try and catch the thieves in the act. and the Sergeant would probably have to tell more guys not to respond. everybody loves to catch a criminal in the act.
Taqz, I live and work just above Sacramento in the foothills. On many nights, they run from felony in progress call to felony in progress call. They are so busy that they will only mail you a form to report a cold burglary. There are many other policies and procedures I could tell you about but you already know how things work down there. Suffice it to say, a LOT of Sacramento cops live in my county and really appreciate the level of service people get up here.

what happens most of the time is the the person reporting the crime does not give the correct info.there is no call that i have seen on my job or any other in this state that officers will not handle. when a officer is told that the suspects are still there then they respond.officers have to figure out what the people need because most often they do not relay the info correctly.
