Personally I can't imagine how this man must feel after having his son murdered, but I think he's letting his anger do his talking. Accusing the White House and Pentagon of ignoring the horrors of war is absurd. No one in Washington expected Saddam and the terrorists to surrender without a fight--they all know how hellish war can be. But we have a mission that needs to be accomplished, and it was and still is necessary for people to die in order to complete the work. We're fighting cowardly MURDERERS!

I see this as a grieving father breaking down and letting his anger and pain boil over, which isn't unexpected. I just think his perspective is hopelessly skewed. Stating that this "is not a game that people in Washington get to play" leads me to believe he has a poor understanding of our task in Iraq. Only the ignorant believe that our leaders are willing to throw lives away without any pain on their part. I can't imagine any true American not feeling an emotional punch to the gut after hearing of Berg's execution.

What does this have to do with his murder? Was al-Zarqawi justified because Mr. Berg was of interest to the FBI? What are you trying to say here?

I feel very compassioned for the man and his world since his son's beheading...but this comment is entirely out of context.

People like George Bush and (U.S. Defense Secretary) Donald Rumsfeld don't see the pain that people have to bear -- they don't know what it feels like to have your guts ripped out," Michael Berg told a news conference.

One of the worst tragedies in American history happened on their shift...don't think it gets to GW and Rumsfeld, just look at pictures before 2001 and currently. GW looks 20 years older, especially in the eyes...

Personally, anyone going over there for work after the invasion knew the risks involved, period. Tragedy yes, government's fault...no...

You know that murder is also forbidden under Islamic law, don't you? They're animals, and they follow their own (lack of) rules.

They don't look white to me, and even if they did, it means nothing. There are light- and dark-skinned Arabs, just like there are whites.

I feel bad for the father. He lost his son and in a horrible way and very public. Very sad and it could make anyone angry. Let him speak and grieve, whatever it will take to get him throught this. I believe anyone who hears him will weight his comments accordingly.

I also wonder if there is more to this story than we all know. The chance of the FBI investigation, then the fellow ending up there and arrested or detained by the locals (maybe at someone elses direction?) and then kidnapped and murdered. It in no way justifies what happened to him but it may explain why he was selected if at all more than being an American. Just have to wonder???
