Yes, the thing the terrorists were pulling out all stops to prevent has happened. Iraq is now a sovereign nation on the road towards full freedom for its people. Great move by President Bush to do it early, it seems to have put the terrorists & those who hate President Bush off-guard. I'm sure there will be terrorist attacks as the terrorists try to destroy this new government & halt elections. It's sad that those who virulently hate President Bush here in the US would not mind seeing that happen. However, this is the big news! The news the terrorists & haters of President Bush didn't want to see, but it's here!
I have to agree with you 100% Whitehorse! It is sad to say, but I believe there are some people in our own country that would like to see us fail in Iraq! Just to bring down president Bush!

Cal, They have had problems with the Security forces wanting to fight against their own people. Fallugha is being run by the old Bath party members. The people of Iraq put up with Hussein for thirty years,now you think their going to get a back bone over night?
We're going to loose alot more people over there before things get stabilized IF they ever do.

Maybe we should get our forces out of Germany, ***an, and Korea first. I think they have finally stablized to where they could get along without us. And I'm sure Iraq will too in a few years. Would be wonderful if they can in 5 to 10 years, which will be a record I believe, and we can help some other people out that are being oppressed.

Good. Can everyone come home now? Bring all of the troops home, park them on the border (including Canada!) and lets do something about ourselves for a while.
If a country doesn't want us there, then leave. They can deal with their own mess. And, if like Saudi Arabia, they just want us there for the money they get from renting us the bases and the protection they get from their uppity neighbors, but badmouth us around the world, then we might as well leave. Spend the saved money on building about 20 more aircraft carriers and support groups and we can have a military presence anywhere in the world in 7 days and we don't have to pay rent to any tinpot dictators to have it.

I dont think korea is stable or the man running N korea.
They get a lot out of us money wise thats for sure!!& most are ungratfull for the protection we provided all these yrs threw the cold war, & now still from there nabors like China etc, all while keeping our former enemys( germay& ***an ) inline& safe.
But those bases have been used& helped in a lot of conficts& operations for Americas benifit too.
We should give up nothing that is to our benifit . A war with korea or china is always a possibility( even more so when where involed in iraq etc). It would make the iraq conflict look small in comparison.
