I have posted a few US laws that I have disagreed with lately. Now I have a new kick. I have a friend who travels selling new construction materials. He is British and his area to cover is Europe and Middle East. Fun right? He was telling me in that in France it is common for the people there to go on strike. Farmers will block highways with tractors. Fishermen will stop fishing. Truckers will stop in place and quit hauling. Things of that nature. To top it off I guess when you are fired from a job in France the company that fired you has to pay you 100% of your salary during the next two years. After that the pay decreases by increments until no longer paying. So most people do not get a job for two years after being fired because hey who would right? Recently, I guess, THE UNEMPLOYED went on strike. That's right the unemployed! They flooded the unemployment bureau and refused to move out until the pay rates were raised! The government got sick of it and finally moved them out of the building by force. But the thought of unemployed people going on strike is hilarious! He also says the problem with France is it is full of the French! I'd agree with that!

Just when I think I can't say anything nastier about the lunacy of their culture, I see this.
So their government will pay a person to do nothing, but they won't stand up and defend themselves against a ruthless foreign invader. How much longer can that country survive?
My french instructor in highschool is from the south of France and she was telling us one time the students in her history class all got bad grades on the final. They went on strike, got the teacher fired, all recieved a passing grade in the course, and got an extra 2 week vacation! She has told us that they go on strike for anything and everything. It is "the French culture". Culture? Yeah right!
