Michael Jackson paid $23 million in settlement money to the boy who accused him of child molestation in 1993, according to Court TV and MSNBC-TV.
Jackson is currently under indictment and awaiting trial in another case involving child molestation charges.
The pop superstar reportedly paid $15 million into a trust fund for the boy, $3 million to the boy's parents and $15 million to the boy's attorney.
Court TV also reported that in the settlement, Jackson says that the agreement cannot be construed as admission that he acted wrongfully in respect to the minor, but he did agree to pay for alleged negligence.
In the original document, it was alleged that Jackson had offensive contact with the young plantiff "which were explicitly sexual and otherwise."
It is unclear if this information would be brought into evidence in Jackson's current case. Jackson's trial is tentatively scheduled to begin on September 13.
Santa Barbara County Judge Rodney S. Melville refused to lower Jackson"™s $3 million bail, saying the singer"™s wealth justified the higher-than-normal bail amount. He added that the bail should remain higher than what is typically imposed on defendants facing similar charges to ensure that Jackson appears at future court dates.
