DNA sample for a data base
in the november elections out here in california there is a proposition that if passed will require anyone ARRESTED for a felony (NOT ARRESTED AND CONVICTED) to give up a DNA sample for a data base to be used to by law inforcement...to solve crimes....
now, this sounds good and i can see how it could help to solve those unsolved crimes but the language is only for those arrested (accused)...
what if you're arrested and never convicted or found to be innocent?
do you get your DNA sample back and it is erased from the data base?
i can imagine many folks being arrest for the most extreme/felony application of the law even though they might not be, in the same circumstance, simply to get their DNA into the data base...i can understand those that might saying i am being paranoid on this one but we are all innocent UNTIL PROVEN guilty and this seems to fly in the face of that and seems to almost invite abuse through excessive charges being filed...
i don't know....just thought this would be a good discussion...
