Its very simple and it has been stated by many on this board a hundred times over.
With out the Right to Keep and Bear Arms we have no way to defend the rest of them and ensure that they won't strip those away too.
Also as stated by many... Alot of the other core beleifs in the Republican Party kinda just fall together, so i find myself voting mostly for republicans. Never a straight ticket, I don't beleive in that way of voting. I have voted for all republicans before, but have never pulled the single lever to do it.

If an official is willing to destroy one of our rights, no matter which one it is, guaranteed to us by the constitution of the United States then what's to say that they won't take away the rest.
You're absolutely right about being able to defend against the rest of them being taken away.

Interesting post, fng, since some of these guys got whipped like a misbehaving pup for calling you names the other day... Retards.
Anyway... our right to bear arms is undoubtedly the only thing that can guarantee us any of the freedoms we hold dear. If the colonists hadn't had guns, there would never have been a revolution to win our independence. If our government can take away our 2nd amendment right and arrest anyone who dares keep one on hand, they can easily take away our 1st amendment right, our 4th amendment rights, etc.
That said, the most important thing to me when I vote is my freedom to exercise my religious beliefs. Second is the abortion issue. Now, because of what we've already said, I know that the 2nd amendment is security for our other rights, so I'll vote pro-gun most of the time. But if the Republican is pro-gun but anti-religion and pro-choice, while the Democrat may be for certain types of gun control but is pro-religion and pro-life, I'll evaluate the choice and chances are I'll vote for the Democrat.
Fortunately most Republican candidates share my core values and beliefs.

I base my votes on how candidate view the Second Amendment and gun control too. The reason though is that I think that the views that politicians have on guns (more than almost any other issue) shows whether they think with their heart or their head. The affectiveness of gun control has been disproven over and over. If a politician is still voting for gun control measures, then I view them as voting on emotion, not facts. Does that make any sense?

This is very true! It doesn't matter, if you believe in God, the bible, religion, or anything else for that matter, the Second Amendment is our only guarantee for freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and all the other freedoms outlined in our Constitution!
If this is labeled "radical" or "extremist," so be it! If all else failed, all we would have is the ability to defend ourselves, or die trying!
That is the worst case senario, what many don't see is that everyday, the Second Amendment, helps keep that day from being today!
Whew! I've been out of town for the last week, I've got a lots of reading to catch up on, along with a lot of other work to do too! It's good to be back!

No it does not, look at the Liberals 90% of the time they use emotion as their number one source to get the masses riled up. That's all they have because they never have any solution other than raise taxes or ban it. And if they do come up with some solution to a "problem"It is usually found to be defective. So all they're left with is to get you mad or sad and then they'll tell you "I'll help you" That in turn is what they want power through more and bigger Government.
