John Kerry, whose record of words and misdeeds on firearms rights has earned him a key place among the most solid "F" candidates ever rated by NRA`s Political Victory Fund (PVF), is now posing as a self-styled "lifelong hunter and gun owner" who "believes in the Second Amendment."
In the May 21 edition of the Grassroots Alert, we reported on a connection between Kerry and the Brady Campaign. Now we have still more evidence of that connection--Kerry has added a link on his website to the Brady Campaign`s anti-NRA petition!
For his long history of anti-gun rights votes and positions, he consistently receives a 100-percent rating from the Brady Campaign (Handgun Control Inc.), the American Bar Association`s Special Committee on Gun Violence, and from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (formerly the National Coalition to Ban Handguns). All of these groups deny the existence of an individual right to keep and bear arms, and some are actively using the courts in an attempt to destroy Americans` Second Amendment freedoms.
On issues directly affecting Second Amendment rights, Kerry has voted 51 of 55 times against us on the floor of the Senate! On a series of critically important votes in the U.S. Senate in March, Kerry eagerly worked to sabotage S.1805--the NRA-backed legislation to stop predatory lawsuits aimed at bankrupting the law-abiding firearms industry--by voting to extend the Clinton gun ban, to make now-legal private gun sales at gun shows criminal acts, and to support his crony Ted Kennedy`s (D-Mass.) ammunition ban, which would have prohibited most centerfire hunting ammunition!
Saying whatever he deems politically expedient, and flip-flopping on issues seem to be habitual for Mr. Kerry, but when it comes to our issue, he can`t have it both ways. Do you believe Mr. Kerry supports your Second Amendment rights? His actions clearly answer "NO!"
Standing with Law Enforcement to Keep New Hampshire Safe
Concord, NH "“ On December 9th, John Kerry joined law enforcement officers and New Hampshire residents to outline his proposals to reduce crime and keep communities safe.
"śWe can do better "“ if we put public safety ahead of powerful interests. As President, I will fight to preserve and strengthen the assault weapons ban. One in five law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty is killed with an assault weapon. The police officers who put their lives on the line every day should not be outgunned by criminals armed with weapons of war. We need to stand with them "“ and stand up to the NRA. I"™ve done that throughout my career "“ and I"™ll do it again as President."

Isn't it strange that with the exception of Clinton and probably Jimmy Carter, most of the Presidents in the last century were members of the NRA? Now its some sort of positive thing for a Presidential candidate to run on a platform of taking on the NRA.[:@]

He is a nut. How many lies can you pull out of this one statement?
John Kerry stood up to the gun lobby to pass the assault weapons ban and the Brady Bill. This assault weapons law is soon set to expire under George W. Bush. We need a President who will fight to keep assault weapons off our streets and out of our communities. John Kerry has the courage to stand up to the NRA, one of the most powerful special interests in the country, which is fighting tooth and nail against reasonable gun safety protections and against renewal of the assault weapon ban. One in five law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty were killed with assault weapons. John Kerry stands with law enforcement officers, who put their lives on the line every day, in making sure they are not outgunned by criminals armed with these weapons of war. Kerry believes that we can support the right to own guns and support common sense gun safety protections. He believes that the NRA leadership is out of step with most law abiding gun owners who support reasonable measures to keep guns out of the wrong hands and weapons of war off our streets.

Now Calhunter that might be true, it just depends on their definition of an assault weapon. If it was up to them all guns would be classified as an assault weapon.
Kerry is a jerk and a liar of the worst kind. The trouble with statements like he made there is alot of people believe them. The anti's would fall by the wayside if they spoke even half the truth. Without all the lies their organizations would die off.

Strut, every year we hear about all of the law enforcement officers murdered each year and the means by which they are murdered. Some are cars, some guns, some knives. For the guns, they break it down into whether it's a rifle, pistol or shotgun. I've heard this annual summary for 13 years now and I can only remember 1 incident where the officers were killed with an assault weapon (as defined by the idiotic law). That incident was back in Florida almost 10 years or more I think and was 2 robbers killing FBI agents with a Ruger Mini 14 if I recall. There just aren't that many crimes committed with assault weapons period.
And as for MY definition of an assault weapon, it's a battle rifle such as those used by the military, like a full auto M-16 and those are already regulated. The AWB is an assinine law that is nothing more than window dressing and harassment of law abiding citizens.

If you're certain you know everything, there's little opportunity to learn anything.
There was a cop killed in Wisconsin last year by a guy with an AK-47. Its the only case I have ever heard of where an assault rifle was used. There have been a few other cops and a game warden that I can remember being killed with a rifle, but all of them were killed with hunting rifles.

Yeah and if I'm not mistaken most of them are killed with their own gun. The AWB is nothing but a pack of lies, you should visit the brady site and read some of the stuff on there, nothng but lies, and mis-truths, but then again they would go under if they did'nt publish such retoric.
