Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Uh-oh, bad news for liberal education activists....

Study: High School Tests Not Too Demanding

Anyone with a (working) brain has already come to this conclusion, including many people here. No one needed to spend tax money to figure this out, but since liberals like studies so much, here's one for them to ponder.

I don't know aught last year in NY over 90% failed the physics regents. Last week my son had to take a Social studies test that included material that had not been taught.

What do physics regents have to do with secondary schooling? They are to gauge students entering college, not graduating high school. If every student had to study physics in order to get a diploma, I dare say our drop-out rate would be sky high.

Regarding your son, that is a problem with the administration, not the exam. If he was unable to answer a question, it is due to poor teaching, not a difficult test.

In NYS you must graduate with a regents diploma now. No you don't have to take physics but they made the test so hard over 90% of the students state wide failed it.

The test my son took was a state mandated test. Poor teaching? The curriculim the state mandated was too large to fit into the school year.

The Business Council supports the requirement of the New York State Board of Regents that students pass five Regents exams (or their approved equivalent) in order to receive a high school diploma,"

Then the teachers need to use their time more efficiently. It's up to them to reach the expectations of the administration. Parents are to reform administrators' poor judgement, not teachers. Teachers are there to teach.

Have you ever had a boss say I want this done in 8 hours and you say to yourself "yea right"? This basically how the NYS board of regents works.

Do I think the teachers could be more efficient sure, but it's a joke right now in NYS. We're not talking inner city either. 91% of their gradutes continue on to a 2 or 4 yr college. They graduate 96% of the kids that enter 9 th grade.

Half of their students graduate with honors. 97% of their teachers are fully certified.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I'm a real harda$$ at work. When my boss wants something done, I do it. When I want something done, I expect my employees to do it. So many people screw around and waste time and money; that's why things don't get done. If the parents (constituents) give the politicians and school officials enough pressure, they'll eventually crack. It only takes dedication and effort.

I'm not saying that these people aren't wrong, only that parents aren't right; they need to lose the apathy and take action.
