PARIS - Former President Ronald Reagan (news - web sites)'s health has deteriorated, the White House has been told.
The White House was informed that the 93-year-old former president's health had changed significantly in the past several days, a person familiar with Reagan's condition said Saturday.
Reagan has been out of the public eye since disclosing a decade ago that he had Alzheimer's disease (news - web sites). He has lived longer than any other U.S. president
Mine too! The sad part of it is that some on this board will be happy at his passing.

Though I didn't agree with most of President Reagans policies, I thought he was a decent person. I hate to hear about his health deterioating, but 93 years is a very long life. I'm sure most were good years before his bout with Althiemers.
NO the sad part is in his passing(when it happens) that all of the attention is on Ronnie Reagan instead of on the Alzheimers disease. He did do some great things & some very crappy things as President..........you didn't know him personally so there shouldn't be a big loss there. I've had 2 of my grandparents go through this nightmare.....yeah it sucked the big one. BUT why not focus on the disease? Why not donate $$$ for research.......I just think people in general (there are exceptions to the rule)should be PROACTIVE instead of REACTIVE.

Former President Ronald Reagan died Saturday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 93. At least two of his children and his wife, Nancy, were at his bedside, according to the former president's Los Angeles office. Reagan, the 40th president of the United States, will be remembered as the man who launched the modern-day conservative political movement with the "Reagan Revolution.
He is now free of the nightmare of Altzhiemers that he has suffered with for so very long. My prayers go out to his family....
Bldhound, Good post! We have several members that know what the nightmare of Altzhiemers disease is and lost a parent, grandparent or both to this awful disease.
