Default Pizza Hut fires delivery man for protecting self with gun.

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=38726

Pizza Hut has become the latest in the corporate world to fired an employee for excercising his right to self defense while on the job.
While corporations may indeed have the right to exclude firearms from the workplace, when they extend that to off premises locations they go too far. I don't know of a Pizza joint in the world that provides a company vehicle for the delivery people nor do any of them provide security for employees when on a delivery and yet they expect full compliance to company rules that are at best motivated by political correctness. I personally vote with my wallet in these circumstances and reduce or cut out any personal use of the products of that company. I know an individual action such as this has no effect on a corporation, yet Pizza Hut will now join Sports Authority on my don't use list.

Thanks for the link.

I will be e-mailing their corporate office and letting them know that I will no longer be buying their pizzas until this policy changes.

I have just been made aware of one of your delivery drivers in Indianapolis being fired because of him legally protecting himself while out delivering pizzas. According to the Indianapolis Star Ronald Honeycut shot and killed a would be robber after being held up at gun point. The polikce found it as a clear cut case of self defence and filed no charges.

I can not tell you how greatly this upsets me that you would rather your employees be killed delivering pizzas than to be able to legally protect themselves with a licensed firearm.

I assure you that I will no longer knowingly buy any more of your products until your policy about delivery drivers being able to protect themselves while away from the restraunt changes. I can also assure you that I will e-mail this story to as many people that I know in hopes that they will also stop buying any of your products.

Great job to the delivery guy, I won't use Pizza Hut anymore now, I guess if he didn't pack heat and got killed, would Pizza Hut pony up and help his family monetarily?Doubt it.

A guy stole a pair of "Felony Fliers" (sneakers) and the Department manager chased him into the parking lot then got into his car to chase him down. Managed to get between the perp and his ride and the perp was slightly injured when he ran into the side of the managers car.
Sports Authority fired the manager and has since lost all of my business,....that was about 4 years ago. This happened here in the Atlanta area.

"Screw Pizza Hut"
June 1, 2004

"žRonald B. Honeycutt, 38, who has a permit to carry a concealed weapon, says he's been delivering pizzas for 20 years and has always packed heat on the job,"° reports WorldNetDaily.com (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/ar...TICLE_ID=38726) today. At around 11 p.m. on May 17th, just after he had made a delivery in a high-crime neighborhood in Indianapolis, a dirtball confronted Honeycutt with a loaded 9 mm handgun. At that point, Honeycutt pulled out his own 9 mm and fired, hitting the would-be robber, killing him.

Anyway, Honeycutt went back to his Pizza Hut store and called the cops. The cops have since determined that Honeycutt acted in self-defense and will not face criminal charges. Nevertheless∑

Pizza Hut fired him.

For violating a company policy against carrying firearms.

BRUSHFIRE ALERT: Now, let"šs be honest here. Pizza Hut, as a private business, has the right to make such a rule and enforce it.

On the other hand, WE have the right to voice our objections to such a stupid rule and refuse to do business with them unless and until they change it.

And if you"šd like to voice YOUR opinion about how Mr. Honeycutt was treated, you can call the Pizza Hut corporate office at 1-972-7700 or give them a "žpizza"° your mind by emailing them through their website at http://www.pizzahut.com/contact/feedback_other.asp

You can also quickly and easily locate the Pizza Hut franchise store near you - along with their phone number - by going to: http://www.pizzahut.com/locator/.

I just called the store in my neighborhood and spoke with the manager. I explained that my family would no longer be dining in her restaurant and why. The woman"šs response was, "žYou should call the corporate office. That incident in Indiana has nothing to do with us."° To which I responded, "žWell, it does now. Å’Cause you just lost a customer over it. Maybe YOU should call the corporate office."°

Something tells me she will...

When I do eat pizza, I eat Domino's. But I will be sure to let Pizza Hut know they've lost my business for good unless they change their policy.

after reading the arlticle, it almost made me feel sorry for the scumbag who died, with the "no bullet in the chamber" and the touching "i just wanted pizza" line. regardless, if you go around pointing guns at people you should expect to be shot. this guy got what he deserved.

as far as Pizza Hut goes, their pizza sucks anyway.
