Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default President Bush's Speech

While I don't think too highly of him as an orator or president, I have to say I was pleased. He hasn't changed his plan, and he reaffirmed the reasons that we're at war. It was OK. Well, except for "abu...gre...uhh...eb...."

I thought about that too, Ifferd. If they are sovereign, then what is our military? Mercenaries? My only thought is that our military will go from running things, to cooperating with the new Iraqi gov't, while respecting its authority.

What if that gov't wants to do something that we disagree with? It could get ugly, I suppose. But that is where diplomacy comes in.

The new Democrat talking point is " There's nothing New in the speech" they wanted specifics, they get some, now its not new specifics. They will NEVER give Bush any credit and America is seeing it as pure politics with them.

Truthfully, I was hoping for something more. I would really like a run-down of the things that are going right. I didn't think it was a bad speach, but, I don't think there was anything new, just reaffirmation of what was previously mentioned. Again, it would have been benificial if he said this is where we are going, THIS is what we have already accomplished.

I am confused on one point.

Bush kept saying we would turn over the power to a "Sovereign Iraqi Government" on June 30th.
The way I interpreted it, he was saying that Iraqis will run the government while we provide security (until Iraqi military and police forces are up to strength).

So was there anything new discussed?

I missed the speech and haven't read it yet.

Well, Bush has been criticized for not having an exit strategy, so he laid out a 5 point plan. Everything else was what you've been hearing all along.
