I am just wondering how many of you out there think that alcohol should not be allowed, while in possesion of a wepon, or while hunting. I myself myself don't think that the two should go together. I don't like alcohol even in hunting camp. There are a lot of guys who do like to down a couple of cold ones, after a long day hunting. Not to judge, but if you want to be successful, and on top of your game. Then why not leave the alcohol at home for your return. I am suprized on how much alcohol some outfitters pack in the backcountry for their clients. When I asked one outfitter I was told, it was for celebrating the kills and the last night toast. He told me that he and the guides didn't drink and they tried to moderate the amount so clients didn't become drunk. I know other outfitters who do drink along with there guides and clients. Again not trying to pass judgement but just wondering what you think. Thanks

I agree with you there. I dont think alcohol should be allowed while hunting. I remember an drinking-related death out here a couple of years ago. I cant remember all the details but it was during dove season and someone one guy accidently shot his friend in the head at point-blank range. Both or all (believe there was about 4 hunter in the group) were drinking beer.

As hunting season approaches I always cut back on the amount I drink so I can get in shape for all the hiking. Alcohol and hunting don't mix at all. Period!!!! I even have a hard time going to the skeet and gun club when I see other members drinking. It makes me nervous.
I can't say that I haven't started a season opener without a hangover a time or two , or even taken a six pack with me in the past , so I can't pass judgement here . [&o]
I don't do either anymore though .

While it is true that alcohol and gun powder don't mix, I see no reason at all not to have a drink, or several drinks after the hunt is over and the guns are put away. This topic was beat to death awhile back with the result that everybody agreed to disagree. If you don't want to drink in camp or associate with anybody that does, that is your perfect right, go for it. If somebody else wants a drink or over indulges and can't hunt the next day, that is his problem and really none of your business. If they decide to hunt while still under the influence, then it is your business and another story.
I would say that if folks want to have some alcohol in camp and have a drink or two in the evening after the hunt is complete, there's nothing wrong with that. Having a drink and getting drunk are two different things, of course, and the latter doesn't belong in ANY hunting camp at ANY time. I do know folks who like to take a couple beers to their blind or stand with them. That's a big no-no, I believe.
Personally, I will never be at a hunting camp where there is alcohol on the premises. Just my personal choice.

I personally think it would be wrong to hunt drunk or while drinking. But I read a good story once about drinking at a hunting camp. One guy would brind tons of booze, but never drink. He just let everyone else have it. Then, while his buddies were all hung over in bed the next day, he would already have gotten his first deer. Nobody around to screw up the hunt.
