Canadian "Hate Speech" laws...

If you're from the Great White North, maybe you can provide some input.

I've heard that some new laws against "Hate Speeech" up there are so strict, that a minister, in his own church, can read passages from the Bible about God's view of homosexuality, and can be arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for it.

Anyone know about this, or have I heard some BS along the way?

I don't know about preachers in their churches, but I know there have been prosecutions for putting Biblical scriptures that denounce homosexuality on billboards.

I saw something on this on Fox News. The commie canadian they spoke with said that as the law is written, scripture read in church is exempt form the law if it is part of the teachings.
Now that is a very slippery slope to start with and the canadian government has been known, according to citizen inteview on the same show, to ignore the law or twist its meaning.
