Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I read this on the drudgereport and had to laugh at the headline about WMD's. While I get the fact that sarin gas is/can be described a WMD I would hardly call a shell that is detonated by our forces and doensn't injure anyone a WMD.

I have to say that this is hardly the "smoking gun". We'll see if the Republicans attempt to use this incident in their favor, but I don't think Democrats will even bat an eye.

However, if this kind of attack (or attempt) become more commonplace, things will be different. Then just about everyone will start to wonder about Saddam and his WMDs.

From what I understand it was not an "empty" chemical artillery shell. In order to "safely handle the chemical weapons, such as nerve, blood, or blister agents, most components are kept seperate up until the shell is actually fired, for safety reasons. In this case with the nerve agent Sarin, it is a mixture of two components. These components are in separate containers in the artillery shell. When the shell is fired, the components are mixed, and upon explosion, are released in the air as a vapor or gas. In this case the shell exploded, without the chemicals being mixed prior to explosion, thus the low level contamination of the soldiers envolved. They were luck that this shell was used as an IED and not fired from an howitzer, is all.

What bothers me is if they have chemical 155mm shells, then were are the thousands of mortar chemical shells? We know for a fact that they can lob mortars in on our troops almost at will. A couple dozen chemical motar rounds would cause mass havoc for sure.

The news reports state that this shell was 13 years old, post Desert Storm. I thought Sadam was not allowed to produce any chemical weapons after DS, by the surrender agrrement and UN resolutions. Looks like he ignored both. I've heard, but have not been able to confirm it, that the chemical weapon attacks that were stopped in the Jordan capital about 3 weeks ago, that could have killed up to 80,000 people, that those chemical weapon came from Iraq. It's kind of hard to find a lot of information on this story. Kind of like they (liberal US news media) don't want anyone to know about this possible link. JMHO.

You'll only have to search a country the size of Texas to find them 1SHOT , better get cracking !

The stash of chemical weapons the Jordanians retrieved from arresting the terrorist shortly after crossing the boarder from Syria into Jordan amounted to a mear 17 tons - capable of killing up to several hundred thousand people.
I read that a Norwegian writer claims to know where the weapons are being stored in Syria and that they are being guarded by Syrian troops. I have been searching for the information that was supposed to be available showing the results of tests the Jordanians were going to do to find out if the weapons did in fact originate in Iraq.
One of the captured terrorists was said to have told Jordan interrogators that he was trained in Iraq by Al-Qaida and they got the weapons in Syria that had come from Iraq.
17 tons I quess is an insignificant amount. So I ask what is a smoking gun? Really?

I have said from the very beginning of this ordeal (GWB erra) that when he decided to let inspectors in that Saddam had moved WDM's out of the country and they went to Syria. Come on guys has everyone absolutely forgotten that he refused inspecters for approx 90 days and then all of a sudden he was more than welcoming them with open arms.

This is just proof that they are going to slowly try to use them until they can find away to use them for a massive attack. If it were me I would have my spys in Syria looking for them.
