Gas to $2 and more per gallon, world oil prices being record highs, auto's selling for $35,000 and up, home prices all time highs, milk to $4.75 a galloin, $2 a loaf a bread, $9 a pound for steaks ......... and wages creeping along to the tune of 2-4% increase per year ?
Something will give folks and I aint got good vibes about it
Not sure where you shop, but you need to change, other than gas, and maybe steak (don't know that one) all the others are way off:
milk here is under $2.50/gallon, plenty of good cars under $20K, about $1.50/loaf of bread. I will give you the rise in salaries over the last couple of years, but I look to the improving economy and the improving stock market to change that.
Aprils numbers where just released, economy still on a slow/steady growth and unemployment still coming down. Now I strongly feel this is NOT Bush's credit, economies are a cycle and he caught the upswing just before election time, same as Clinton got to ride the top of the cycle.
When you milk a cow you strip out every last bit of milk. The powers in charge are doing just that. Then when the cow is worn out they make hamburger out of her. We are chattels of the US gov. Oil and Banking and Commerce control all elected officials. Draw your own conclusions. These people care about one thing and that isn't whether you have a decent life. As I stated on here three years ago we are allowed the ILLUSION of freedom.Where the pocketbook begins the freedom ends. When this is finished the one world order starts.
.
I wonder where the real terrorist are? in afghanastan? iraq? the oil companys or in our gov't?
And i wonder just where did GW make his wealth?don't look good to me!
I'm glad Bush is the leader of the GOP Grand Oil Party!
All of the items that Stealthy were talking about have no real/felt effect on a person making say 100K or more, but to someone making 50k or less, that bread, milk, gas, car really add up to a huge % of the budget.
I have faith that our economy will make it through this gas problem. Granted so much of what we consume is moved about by truck and it adds to the cost but it is not that great of an increase and we have been here before and survived, we'll do it agian.
People make those adjustments as needed and prioritize, go with the flow and make those minor changes. Others will go without but they are the small minority and it will have little effect in the overall run of things.
Those that are simply consumers and not contributors will either save less and invest less than what little they do now. Those that move the ecomony will continue as they are and the adjustment will be minor.
Stop and think about what percentage of your income goes directly to the pump. If it is a major chunk, this will effect you more than someone who will just have one less breakfest or lunch out this week. The same idea applies to your purchases that are directly effected by transportation cost.
If you buy 25 gallons of gas a week and it has gone up say $.25 per gal in the last 3 months you have you have $26.88 less to spend a month (4.3 weeks to a month). If you are unable to adjust for that your situation was already bad and that could be for a whole lot of reasons that could range from your personal money management to the ecomonies effect on you in other ways.
Prioritize

The silence of the government, which is supposed to by by and for the people, concerning this subject is stunning. Actually it speks volumes to those who will listen. It makes the leaders complicit in the least.
I drive 20 miles one way to work each morning and back that 20 miles ion the evening. 40 miles per day, 200 miles per week, 800 miles per month. Add another 200 minimal travel to grocery store etc etc and we can safely say 1000 miles a month. 12,000 miles a year. My car get 25 mpg. 480 gallon .... lets round up to 500 gallons to be safe, shall we ?
Gas prices has double from $1.20 to $2 in what, 3 years ? Do you have an extra $400 a year to put into your gas tank - from your net income ?
Milk .... lets say I use 3 gallon a week (I have two kids who love milk) - 150 gallon a year and its gone up $1.00 a gallon. Another $150 a year I have to come up with out of my net income.
Beef prices went up sharply a year ofr two ago. Bread has. Fresh vegetables ? How about $1.25 for a head of lettuce, $1 each for bell peppers, if you can find fresh fruit for under $1 a pound buy it, cereal will run you $0.20-28 cents an ounce, cheese/yogurt prices will rise, a pound of sausage or bacon is $2.50-3.00 .........
Of course, gas prices are directly related to almost all essential products in life because why ? Most everything is truck delivered.
My annual raises have been 2-3% and I'm middle income household of $50,000
Whats going to give ? Prices are rising faster than income and its apparent to me now more so than ever before.
