Default Leading them astray - does your kid watch "Friends"?

For various reasons, we've let our Dish Network account go by the wayside and currently have no way to watch any TV in our home with exception to a DVD. My daughter told my ex that we no longer have TV and couldn't watch the last episode of Friends. My ex questioned me as to why we let our satellite lapse, so I asked her why she lets our 12 year old daughter watch an adult based show that does nothing but talk about sexual inuendos and immoral filth. She of course responded with her normal babble that made no sense at all including that they watched re-runs together so that made it ok. Questions: would you let your 12 year old daughter watch this show? I will not, not in my home. Do you think shows like this contribute to leading our future nation down the path of excepting things that are immoral? I do believe so, yes. What do you think?

Hmmm, all I can say is that I do have a dish because cable is not here yet. LOL In addition, what few shows I watch are not on network...which is not available where I live. Science and Tech channels mostly.... And then that is only when I have the time. My son who is 5 has never watched "prime time" tv in his life. And what he has watched, I have watched with him. What he watches is very closely monitered. Wrong??......I do not think so seeing some of the cartoons I have seen that are on now show not only disrespectful behavior but....out right gross stuff such as it is okay to tell your parents to shut up, or to eat boogers! No thanks for this mom!.......

The real paradox is that I do allow him to watch ole Wiley Coyote, and the acme group......LOL So....maybe I am just an oddball. [8D]

When my daughter was at home If the show wasn't good enough for her to watch, I didn't watch it either.

We touched on this in the past, some thread about Janet Jacksons nipple I believe ? What I did was jot down every sexual reference, curse word, and immoral filth from that show and posted it.

Here, this is the thread

http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/tm.as...=1&key=friends

Quote:
Would you watch a TV show that talks about sex in high school, getting "laid", referencing a girls behind, "making out", sex on the football field and male stripper ?

That also shows a male stripper talking about his "long arm of the law", his "concealed weapon", his penal codes" mixed with crotch grabbing and groin thrusting and a baring of his nipples ?

That also shows underage drinking, smoking and the use of the words "bitchin" and "assmunch" ?

A show that also shows girls without bras that runs commercials showing women ripping the clothes off guys exposing their nipples ?

Would ya'll watch a show like that ?

I remember that thread well, stealthycat. That's when I opened my eyes to the filth that my kids may be watching. I've never seen the show myself but have read much about it including that one guy did a study and claims that not one show that has aired in the 9 or whatever years it has been running goes without mentioning something about oral sex. Nice material for a 12 year old to be watching ha? Not my daughter. Yet another never ending battle with the ex. Whew.

Stealthy,

With all due respect, this is not about that thread. It is infact a different one... and until now had NO bearing on JJ's body parts! Nuff said...

Personally....it is Spring after a long Winter..atleast it is here in WV. I do not have the time to watch TV, did not in the Wintertime except for the rare occaision that there was something really cool on Discovery or TLC, and perhaps the History channel. Ian like PBS, and Disney on occaision. However, unless I watch the shows to approve, he does not watch period.
Ogre that I am...I even limit his GBA time, and his play station II time.

We have chores to do around here so......I have better things to worry about than watching TV, and as does my son.

Christine B - My reference to that thread was relevant only in my reference to Friends, not Janets nipple.

badshotbob - I'm a Friends fan and watched it religiously until they started doing the sex swapping between them (joey and rachel) - at that point I said enough and stopped watching it. I did watch the final show because my wife and I have been married 9 year, Friend's was 10 years - that show was a part of society much the way Friends and Cheers were, from the hair cuts to the catch phrases. I'll kinda miss it, but also don't let my kids watch it.

BTW, I rented "Cat in the Hat" for my daughter .... don't rent it for your kids - nasty film, adult humor ..... NOT for kids !

We do not watch that filth in my home. My parents are intelligent people who see it as a waste of time and a stress on our morals.

badshotbob....I don't let my 8 or 12 year old watch that show....I don't even watch it...Most shows on tv are pollution to their minds..I take my girls out on the farm here, or hunting with me. There is so much more to do than watch tv..I can see why she is your x!!
