I haven't herd about this but just because someone is a "sex offender" does not make them a pedofile. The term "sex offender" is used to loosly. What they actualy did is what is important and relavent.

In Tennessee, an 18-year-old boy who has sex with a 17-year-old girl is a sex offender. Yes, the term "sex offender" is used waaay too loosely, as is the sex offender registry.

I'm not sure why he was classified as a sex offender, but judging by the specifics he was looking for in his flier, I'm thinking child molester would be a pretty good guess...

HELENA, Montana (AP) -- A registered sex offender was arrested for allegedly soliciting baby-sitting jobs through fliers and classified advertisements, police said.

Kenneth Lee Hall was arrested Wednesday and jailed for violating the terms of his sex-offender therapy, a condition of his probation. Hall, 41, was convicted in May 1999 of sexual assault.

A merchant became suspicious when he read a flier Hall dropped off at his business, offering to provide overnight baby-sitting for children ages 2 to 4, said Detective Bryan Fischer. The flier said Hall would like to be a "big brother" for a handicapped girl between the ages of 2 and 4, and offered a place to stay for a homeless girl up to the age of 8.

The business manager found Hall's photograph and criminal history on a sex offender Web site and called 911.

Fischer said Hall placed a classified advertisement in a weekly newspaper in late March, offering to baby-sit young children.

Police are investigating whether anyone responded to the offers.

So a an 18 yr old that sleeps with a 17 yr old would not be considered a sex offeneder,right?

I agree. I looked into this once to see what the term "sex offender" means, and it is very open. It needs to be broken up into groups. As is, a person who rapes a child is a sex offender. A young man who has sex with his girl friend, who is under age, is a sex offender. A man who touches a women with out concent is a sex offender. It goes on and on.

I will agree with the post in relation to sex offenses agians children.
