This is a lot to ponder all at once, but you've raised some of the most relevant quetions of our day.

Can we as a nation, ever be safe or "secure" from terrorists attacks, as long as we let anyone and everyone come into our country, and continue to let illegals live here, without deportation and without consequences?
|
The answer is no, but I would still remain extremely vigilant against attacks were we to completely close the borders. In a country this big, we can never seal all of the cracks. We can only try and watch them continuously.

What is a solution to this problem? Close the borders? Tighter laws? More law enforcement?
|
Closing the borders is a start; it would help to end the cultural tradition of allowing anybody and everybody into our country. Laws? Well, we all know they only work if people obey them. The best answer, IMHO, is to place more boots on the borders themselves. Nothing stops illegals like a LEO with a rifle.

What is the biggest threat facing our nation right now? Foreign attack? Stupid Americans inside? Illegals coming to our country? Cruddy airport security?
|
We've seen that we're not immune from either foreign or domestic attack, but that still isn't highest on the priority list for me. Now stupid Americans have the power to change
everything here. We're the ones who allow the politicans to erode our rights while handing them more power. Tyranny is a real possibility in today's age of media hype and extremist sensationalizing. Illegals are bad, but mostly to the economy, not homeland security. Then again, it only takes one fanatic nut to break in and hurt Americans from within. Airport security is a major issue since people are still boarding planes with contraband. It doesn't seem that the people on the ground are getting the job done, so it's pretty clear to me that we need armed pilots and more sky marshals. That seems like the only sure bet.
