I am going to vote for Bush....but.....I find his latest commercial questionable....
It addresses the stand that Kerry is taking on the military. It goes through the list of military equipment that Kerry is against.
While the commercial is rolling ......on the screen is written that these military aircraft & tanks are built in Ohio. So in affect it is saying...to keep the war moving would keep jobs in Ohio.
I don't like the idea of the two ideas mixing. I don't want to keep the war going to prosper Ohio. I find this commercial & line of thinking offensive.

Well, how did we get out of the great depression. War is hell, and it's awful. But it happens no matter how hard we try to avoid it. When it does occur, it hurts people in the combat zones, but it indirectly helps people in the defense market. Ugly, but true.
Perhaps you'd prefer that the tanks and planes were built in Pakistan and imported here ? They have to be built somewhere .
No not at all....glad we are actually manufacturing something in this country instead of importing things....
I just think to advertise for a vote with that as your fulcrum...i.e. our economy = stay in a war is not good logic...
A better logic would be to not advertise our economic success based on us being at war...
Yes!! let us build our defense weapons. Yes, let us be the best equipped military force and economic force in the world. But represent it better than that. To me this commercial looks like the Republicans (of which I am one) are at war to prosper the country ......It makes Republicans look bad.

Linking manufacturing of war goods to job growth is ethically questionable even though the production of war materials does create jobs.
Questionable, sure. Truthful, you bet.

I personally think this ad is more deficient for what it doesn't say..... how are we going to get out of Iraq, leave it a stable democracy, and hopefully and ally.
I don't have faith in either of the major two candidates with regard to this issue. They'll have to slug it out in the public forum.

They hope to keep us distracted and stirred up with "Heart String ads" and smear tactics. Then, maybe we won't have the time or coherency to question the really important issues like Iraq.
We don't have to be in a war to need military equipment. The factories are their producing whether we're kicking somebodies butt or not. It is my belief that this muslim terrorist deal is not going to go away until we kill all of them that believe in the jihad / holy war. If kerry gets elected and slacks up on the terrorist, we are going to get our butt kicked.

I agree with your statement whole heartedly.....
I think the Bush administration needs to do a better job of presenting itself to the public so that they can get reelected. This type of commercial isn't doing his administration any favors. I would like to see him reelected so that he can finish the job that he has begun.
