Reality tv gone way too far
I dont know if this has happened yet, but if so, I think it is the most
disgusting attempt at ratings ever. I dont know all the details (I heard this
on T.V. while passing), but it appears the new reality T.V. bit is to have
families compete for the chance of adopting a child. I dont mind this reality garbage since it involves consenting adults, but the throw a helpless child in the mix as a prize. I cant believe it, and it appears Barbara Walters is involved some how. I think it has gone way too far. You dont do garbage like this with an innocent life.[:'(][][][:'(][:'(][:'(][:@][:@][:@][:'(]

I'm not going to prejudge it too harshly (well, any more so than with the rest of network programming), but it did seem a bit shocking to me. The stated purpose is for the birth mother to find the most suitable adoptive family for the baby. Maybe this is a new and unusual spin on the process, but I don't think that it's necessarily unethical or immoral.

No disrespect here, but I find it very unethical. I have two adopted daughter, and telling them they were adopted is a tough thing. All the explinations are not very easy. I can only imagine when this child gets old enough to know he was the grand prize for a "game show", is goiong to lead to some very hard feelings. Speaking from experience with going through the adoption process twice, I feel this is rather barbaric.

What's most important is placing the child in a good home, period. If you're having problems explaining the meaning of adoption, seek a licensed juvenile therapist. Life is tough, and we all need help finding answers sometimes.
I'm way in Burnie's corner on this one. The concept of this show disgusts me, and quite frankly I think there's a place in Hell for these people. [:'(]
