I feel that trying to force people on this forum to think the way I think and to do the things that I do, to include government where I want, and to exclude it where I want should be enough to straighten out this whole country, maybe the world!
One youth league, two high school sports, american cancer society.
I coached youth league baseball for 10 years and umpired for 12. This isn't counting getting the fields in good condition pre-season and ready to play before games. Coaching and umpiring was much easier than babysitting the parents. I figure this alone took at least 20 years off my life[8D]. I also supported the HS and American Legion baseball teams while my son played and the summer softball leagues when my daughter and neice played.
I don't currently get involved with anything in my community.......I became selfish.
built a house last year too , habitat for humanity. My Aunt in SC had hers done the same way , so figured I could help out up north to pay em back. Great Group ....I'm a skilled carpenter , but they'll take anyone they can get.

Some Parents . They just made me President this year I was the AD so I got to field alot of their complaints.
You'd be better off if you could somehow ban the parents from all practices and games. Really, most parents are great, its the few who constantly complain, volunteer their ideas of who should play where, or come to the park drunk that makes it a little bit tougher. But those summers were the most fun summers I ever had.
Tried coaching soccer one season Charlie........those parents were the worst. It didn't help not knowing much of anything about soccer, but they needed someone foolish enough to volunteer.
I'd actually still be coaching today, but working a straight 3-11 shift now, put a halt to that.
I usually always have one child that I provide free daycare for so that the mother can work/go to school without having to go on welfare. I see alot of leeches sucking the system, but there are women out there with pride who just need a little help to pull themselves up. I had one little girl who actually lived with us for the first 2 years of her life. Her mother was just not ready, emotionally or financially, but I knew she would be. After two years, the mom got married, took the little girl back, and is now a great mom with two little girls who love her dearly. Sometimes it's a bit of a strain financially on us, but I know I'm making a real difference in individual lives, and it feels really good.

Been soccer coaching for 8 years, many years 2 teams, once 3. have been on the board of directors for the soccer league, now I ref. You wanna a different opinion of soccer parents, become a ref and be forced to know the REAL rules, the comments you hear after that are priceless Still coaching a U12 Boys travel team.
Taught archery for 18 months.
Coached basketball and baseball when my kids were in that.
was VP of the state bowhunting group for 2 years, involved in other positions in there before that for several.
Amazing how much time you can suck up being involved in the lifes of your kids.
Bob, the rules lol. I also ref at the youth level and up to JV. If I had a dollar every time I've heard that wasn't pass interfernce the ball was uncatchable or some parent telling me a kid was blocked in the back, when it was legal. I'd be rich.
There is no uncatchable until you get to college. You can block in the back in the free blocking zone or if the block inititated in the front and the person be blocked turns and the blocker maintains the block. The parent looks at you and say's"really"
