Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default How far would you go??

This morning at Newsmax.com, I was reading about Bremmer in Iraq telling the Iraqi people that it is time for them to step up and fight for their country and freedom (which most of what we have seen from the Iraqis is whining and complaining albiet what the media presents us). Some analysts are saying the Iraq people are not ready and can't govern themselves with any form of democracy even suggesting the country be divided in two parts - protect the Kurds in the North and let the Sunnis and Shiites terrorise themselves.
My question is this: What would you do to fight for your country? Would you pick up a pitchfork, shovel, steak knife or use your bare hands? Or would you sit back and complain because those that came to help you weren't doing enough?

We all know what the answer to your question would be here....we would fight with anything we had. But we are talking an Islamic country and completely different situation. I honestly don't believe the rationale or lack of it by the Iraqis, wants them to fight against each other when foreigners(us) are in their country.

Its like two distant cousins who hate each other, but would fight together against non-blood. Perhaps a strange analogy, but that is how I see it.

We have a pretty strong track record of "bailing out" before the job is done in that area of the world.

I suspect that the thing that is in the back of most of their minds is; we won't be around in a year or two, and when the next band of thugs takes over, then those that alligned themselves with this cause will be killed.

In the last forty years or so, we have gone in to many countries, killed a bunch of people, and then left. If we do not maintain a strong presents in Iraq and Afganistan, then they will eventually be over-run by bad guys again.

The folks in that part of the world know our history and are counting on us repeating the actions and methods of before. In fact, many liberals are, even today, advocating that we do just what I described..."Bail out" before the job is done.

While it is true that the folks in that part of the world are not keeping up with our day to day politics, there can be no doubt that they know there is a strong sentiment here, for us to leave there.

I think That is the primary reason that they are leary to jump into the fray.
