MSNBC... Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., the author of a recent book about courage, said he was "heartbroken" and raised the prospect that "the tragic loss of this extraordinary young man" could be a "heavy blow to our nation"s morale, as it is surely a grievous injury to his loved ones."
Talk about trying to spin this. Tillman's death a heavy blow to our morale?
I've never been so inspired in all my life!
I'm sorry, but McCain is an idiot!
When I think of McCain, I think of a selfish individual who only cares for himself and his political aspirations. Democrat today Republican tomorrow... what ever is best for him. A sharp contrast to Pat Tillman! A man of incredible principle.

Guy gets my respect. He spent two years in a tiger cage as a POW. How can you rag on the guy ? Dont have to like him or his ideas , but the man gave two years of his life in hell for the USA. I think the morale comment was geared toward Tillman being a "nationally" known soldier. To often we forget about the other soldiers who give their live because we dont
"know" them.

For serving our country, I respect him, just as I would any other honorable veteran! Beyond that, I call a spade, a spade!
John McCain is a flip-flopping, lying, gun grabber in disguise!
Why he still calls himself a Republican, I don't know. It must still fit in with HIS adgenda! After he did not get the Republican presidential nomination, he showed his true colors and started openly flip-flopping and stabbing us in the back!
As I said, I'll respect ANY honorable veteran, however, I'll follow NO MAN, blindly!
As far as McCain goes, I have about as much respect for him now, as I do for the Klintoons, the Kerry's and the Alagores! In fact, I might almost respect them more than McCain! It is hard to measure that respect, when it is less than ZERO!
As you can tell, I don't respect, or like TURNCOATS, and LIARS! Don't tell me you are for the Second Amendment, while you are sleeping with the enemy, and trying to pick the guns from my pocket!

slugman, it is this part of the quote that irked me. He is spinning this to the negative. He could spin it to the positive, to promote valour and patriotism. That's what Pat Tillman would have wanted I'm sure. It was a disrespectful remark.
He is trying to lead peoples thinking to be critical of the war.
I know John served and was captured... paid a price for this country. That doesn't mean he is not a destructive force in the war in Iraq today!
Kerry served too! [8D]

I respect Mc Cain as a Veteran but how can you compare his time in a cage to what Tillman did.
I'm sorry that McCain was a POW and lived in a cage, he didn't have a choice, he was caught by the enemy.
Tillman DID have a choice and he made a choice very few men would or have in his situation.
He is a Patriot!

I respect and admire the courage display by Mc Cain as a pilot and POW. The man was outstanding.
Yet his statement about Mr. Tillman is political and demonstates how a person can change over time. Mc Cain is a bitter person because he has not reached the level in the political arena that maybe he felt was his due. His ongoing association with people like ted kennedy and other liberal thinkers is unexcusable. Statements such as this are made for one purpose and one purpose only, to destroy support for the on going war on terrorism regardless of where and when it takes place.
Tillmans should not be remember for the ultimate sacrifice alone but for the life he lead, his courage to be all he could be as an American and walking the walk not just talking about it.
I like most if not all of you did not know the man personally yet I don't believe that other than the men I fought along side of will I ever respect any other man more. What an outstand example Tillman is and should be for all Americans.
Like jfk said, Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country. Tillman has lived that his entire life for young man on to all the institutions with which he part took from high school through college and into his NFL career.
His action inspire not deflate the minds and spirits of men and women. Only a fool would think otherwise.
I pitty the fool and I do not mean that in jest.

Was he a patriot? Or a dillusional lunatic who watched way too many episodes of Rambo?
In either, he died fighting for his country and has my respect.
I would think to look at the way he lived the rest of his life....if you want an answer to that question. Let's not let cynicism masquerade for deep thinking!
