Default Will Al Qaeda attack before Nov. election to get Kerry elected?

I personally believe that they will TRY to attack in order to get Americans to go the way of Spain and elect their preferred candidate Kerry. But since before the Gulf War, those in the middle east have miscalculated America's response to events to their own detriment.

Question: If they do attack here in the US, let's assume something on the order of 9/11, on the whole, will Americans who would have voted for Bush change and vote for Kerry, or will voters who would have pulled the lever or punched the chad for Kerry switch to Bush? What woiuld be the net impact of the attack on the election? I wish I could say it wouldn't hurt Bush, but fear that might be the case...

IMO an Al Qaeda attack on the order of 9-11 prior to the election will erase the bad taste of Iraq and make Americans even more resolute in carrying the war to further countries supporting them.

I believe most Americans believe that the solution to Terrorism is to go after them and not cower and run away or to appiese them.

In other words such an attack favors Bush.

Codelazza(sp) Rice mentioned this today on TV. I think they will try something.

Look at the effect it had in Spain, wouldn't you if you were al quida?

Charlie,

That is my point. They see all the American war protestors and lack of resolve for many in this country, and think that they can do here what they did in Spain, influence the election to get someone in power who is more likely to try and appease them than to fight them...

Some Americans still have brass left downstairs...not sure if most of Europe does anymore.

I think that an Al Qaeda attack could possibly happen before an election. But it seems to me that it'd draw more votes to GW. But then again...common sense isn't too common in these parts nowadays.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see...

If they think another terrorist attack will sway the election to Kerry they have no idea how Americans think! If they do it again Bush will be re-elected in a landslide!

Default RE: Will Al Qaeda attack before Nov. election to get Kerry elected?

I have no doubt that Al Qaeda, has a plan in the works, for a late summer or early fall time frame attack in CONUS, prior to the election. It worked in Spain. It over through Spain's anti-terrorist Gov't a month or so ago. Why wouldn't they try it again?

If they are successful, in the slightest, with an attack in CONUS, will it have the same effect, as it did in Spain? I don't think so. First of all, we here in the US, except for the extreme leftist liberals, have a different mentality than much of the socialist in Spain and most of Western Europe. Look back through the history of the last century and you'll see a pattern of concession, capitualtion, appeasement, and a lack of courage or resoluteness in times of imminet danger or peril.

Anyway, back to the question, will an attack on the CONUS prior to the election hurt Bush or Kerry? I think that it will hurt Kerry, big time. He has proven over the past 18 or so years in the Senate, that he cannot be counted on to stand up for US sovereignty. If elected, he will most likely turn over much of the control of the US armed forces over to the UN and depend on the UN to protect the US, this after he capitulates many of our god given rights to the UN. I think most Amercans understands this and will vote angainst Kerry at the first sign of a terrorist attack on the US. America, while not agreeing 100% with Bush's war on terror, knows that he means to wipe out terrorism, and not play word games and symbolic missle launches with terrorist and those who finance and harbor terrorist. Kevin, you should think about switching to decaf

I think Taz has it right, if they do have a plan to attatck thinking it will sway voters to Kerry, they are in for a surprise.

To tell you the truth though, I think way to much credit is giving to terrorists if you think they think like that though. Terrorists have a one track mind, killing the infidels. I don't think they think above that.
