One the radio this morning, a middle eastern professor stated that the outcome in Iraq will determine the fate of Al Qaeda. He said that victory, and the establishment of a firm democracy would all but mean the death of Al Qaeda. That is why the terrorists are working so hard to cause disruption.

I don't remember the guy's name or position. It was a sound bite, so they didn't play his rationale either. Seems like an interesting theory though.

I don't feel that a solid democracy in Iraq will end the terrorism entirely, but it will definantly cut way back on them claiming that America is the evil Satan that is out to kill all Arabs and take over their countries. Al Queda is losing a ton of their folks right now in Iraq, they have really lost almost any support they may have mustered from the common Iraqi with thier suicide bombings and the such and now are surviving off of Al Queda supporters from outside of Iraq infiltrating into Iraq.

I have a question for Kevin1...If that is a poorly thought out concept...What is your thoughts on getting rid of the terrorists...A little "appeasement" maybe? Perhaps we can make 'em our friends and all sit around singing Kumbaya?

Appeasement only brings more terrorism. That is why hijackings for demands don't occur as often anymore. We don't give in. If we did, planes would be hijacked every day. We tried doing nothing for years, and it got us the World Trade Center bombing, embassy bombings, the Cole, and 9/11. It simply did NOT work! And don't say 9/11 was a hijacking for demands, because it wasn't. The terrorists knew any demands wouldn't be met. The intent was to kill innocent American civilians...
