Default To those that defend Islam

Now that the Iraq "terrorists" have killed an Italian on video...

Since this has hit the airwaves I have been listening to many Islamic leaders decrying this heinious act... NOT.

The silence is deafening.

Further interesting is the silence on this forum.....and Country Boy...now that you mention it I don't recall any condemnation of any terrorist acts against us or Israel ever by the Islamic leaders.

Sometimes what is said is not nearly so powerful as what is NOT said.

I don't defend Islam don't know that much about it. Do know there are over a billions Muslims in the world. So not all of them that are bad or we would be mopping the blood out of the streets on both sides.

did a search on Google here are some Muslims that have condenmed the attacks.

Dozens of scholars of Islam issued a statement today, condemning the violent attacks of September 11th.

"We are grief-stricken at these horrifying events," they wrote; "the murder of innocents can never be justified and must not be tolerated."
In a lengthy statement, professors from major colleges and universities throughout the country expressed their compassion for grieving family members while also decrying the increase in violence against American Muslims this past week. "Anger and frustration are completely understandable and shared by us all," they wrote "yet that anger must not be directed at individuals utterly innocent of these terrible crimes."

In recent days, verbal and physical attacks against Muslims (and people who were thought to be Muslims) have been reported from California to Vermont. Muslims have been warned to stay home or to avoid wearing traditional dress. "Particularly distressing is the fact that many American Muslims have fled to the United States, seeking a haven from intolerant regimes in Kosovo, Afghanistan or Iraq. For them now to face intolerance and violence here is an abuse of our Nation"s most deeply cherished beliefs" they said.

The co-signers of the statement are members of many scholarly societies in the United States and Canada. They include:

Professor Asma Afsaruddin, of Notre Dame University
Professor Vivienne Sm. Angeles, La Salle University
Professor Ghazala Anwar of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand

Remember the mutilations and burned bodies in Iraq? Well the local Islamic leaders(in Iraq) condemned the mutilations, but not the killings in the first place. It just seems that for Middle Eastern Muslims, killing non-Muslims is just no big deal.

From their POV killing infidels(non-believers) who invade a muslim nation or otherwise harm muslims is no big deal . An infidel can just as easily be a fellow arab as anyone else . Read the Koran before you knock it's believers .

What about the ***anese who were on humanitarian missions. If they are killed, as promised, would that go agianst Islam. Something else, when they desecrated the dead bodies of the ones they killed and burned, isnt that agianst Islamic teaching. I believe so. Why are there leaders not accosting that.?

Good luck getting a response Country Boy. I asked some questions on the Islam thread further down the page and never got an answer either.

It's easy to give textbook answers about why Islam is good and great but the heart of the matter is that Islam is a religion that sponsors terrorism and always will. For that reason, that religion is a threat to society, at least until all the fundamentalist Muslims are wiped out. Period! And, Kevin, I've red the Qu'ran so I guess I allowed to knock 'em?

Ben ,
since you've read it you can at least comment from an educated POV . Go ahead .

Islam itself , as Taz has pointed out , is not the problem . Anytime extremists and control freaks get their paws on something they invariably distort it to support their own warped views . It doesn't matter whether it's Islam , Christianity , or even Democracy . When you take anything to the extreme it tends to get distorted in the eyes of others as well . I cringe when I see so called "extreme sports" nuts , because nuts is what I think they are for doing it . That doesn't make the sport itself wrong .

That is the key to all religious perversion. I personally would like to see the leaders of Islam take a stand agianst the extreamist. I have not seen it yet.
