As Americans, we have the right to express ourselves. No kiddin!
After reading some of these political posts, it seem to me, most everything is black or white. Conservatives hate Liberals and Republicans hate Democrats. It must be noted liberal democrats are the minority here and this is absolutely not a factor to me. Believe it or not, I actually know people that have the opposite political values on certain beliefs as me and I still have respect for those people. Just because someone feels the war in Iraq is wrong, does not make them less patriotic. They may not support the war but they support the troops. These are just a few of the examples, and they could apply to abortion, capital punishment, gun control etc. Maybe I'm way off base here but after reading these posts I don't see evidence of respect for the other side. Sure there are the extreme cases, but those are the exception not the rule. Respect is the key word for me. You can certainly disagree with me and you have that right. I am not asking for any comments, replys or opinions from anyone, if you want to, please feel free. .....just adding my .02.

In an anonymous forum, people can express thier passion without sugar coating it for those a bit more sensitive. If your easily offended, or you have some need to be respected by perfect strangers, then maybe this forum isn't for you.
I don't swear, try to stay away from personal attacks..except maybe tongue in cheek (Buckmine, you're no bigot). But I don't hold back my feelings either. Sorry if your emotions are challenged from time to time.

....etothepii, you are missing my point. I do not want any respect from anybody and I am not easliy offended. Maybe I was not clear....Simply put, I do not see respect from folks on this forum for those that disagree with them.

This makes no sense, Jimmy. (And I say that with the utmost respect)
When it comes right down to it, we all have the common goal of commanding respect from everyone out here. If this were not true, why would we even care if anyone disagreed with us or not? Why argue? Why debate? Why post at all? Why be passionate on our stances on life? Why expect anyone else to show respect to another's opinion? Of course it should not be a continuous bash-fest out here, but if someone comes against me, I will listen....eventually. If they are making sense with their point that is. Bash me all you want, just back it up. I'll respect that.

Yes, as Americans we do have the right to express ourselves. The constitution guarantees that the GOVERNMENT cannot deny you that right. Your fellow citizens, however, have that same right and it includes disagreeing with you and calling you names if they feel they can get away with it. Respect is earned, it is not a right guaranteed by the constitution or any other document I have ever read. If you want my respect you earn it by saying and doing things that are worthy of respect.
What most people tend to forget is that with every "Right" comes responsibility, if you want the right to express an opinion, you are responsible to defend that opinion with fact, or if proven wrong, then to accept the facts presented to you and get along with your life.

Hey watch that RESPECT stuff!!!! I think in the long run the majority of regular posters here do repect others who are regulars. I agree, respect is earned, but respect should also be given when respect is shown. We have had folks show up here that have no respect for any one or anything, and they are shown no respect!
Then of course we have a few pot stirrers here that when you first come here you think "Man, what a jerk!" then after a while you realize that this whole thing is a mental exercise for them and they just want to see who they can get riled up!
I will admit I have very little tolerance for hypocrites and take great pleasure in ripping them up along with the holier than thous!
I bite my tongue a lot with certain folks here, but occasionally I just have this need to vent my frustrations![8D]
