Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Bush and Rice for 2004?

I the rumor that Bush was going to pair up with Condie Rice, and Cheney was going to bow out based on health concerns but in reality it is because Cheney knows he is hurting Bushes chances of getting back in the white house, where rice would be able to increase the minority vote, and the women vote.
If that was the case, we would be a heartbeat away from our first Black AND first woman president. Or Rice vs. H. Clinton in 2008.

I think operative word is "rumor." Would be an interesting ticket, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Count me in the group that thinks this would be a great move. Personally, I believe the Republicans need to drop Cheney, if for no other reason that he has no shot at winning in 08. We need to have a VP candidate with a legitimate shot at running in 08.

Rice VS Clinton in 2008.......hhhhmmmmmmm...
Ya know...I think Rice is one of the few that could make Clinton look like the mental midget she really is.

Having said that I believe the Republicans have better qualified leaders for the task.....beside they haven't survived 2004 yet!!!!

Not a Rice fan here. And I don't think it would benefit Bush or Republicans to add her to the ticket. This nation still isn't ready for a female president or vice president. I don't think Rice will help Bush with minorities... after all, having Collin Powell as a high-ranking official hasn't helped. In fact, blacks despise Powell. It would help Bush somewhat with the women's vote but that would probably cancel itself by the hard-core white conservatives who would never vote for a woman to be a leader. Rice doesn't have the fortitude to be a president or vice-president, IMHO.

As for 2008, the likely Republican nominee is Bill Frist.

Changing NOW wouldn't be the smart thing to do--especially since he has publicly already asked Cheney to run with him again. It wouldn't surprise me though to see Cheney bow out sometime during their 2nd term--and Condy Rice could step in then. She is obviously very intelligent and would make an excellent presidential candidate--one that could win and would handily knock hillary off her perch.

After watching Rice's hearing, I would be very hesitant to cast a vote for such a ticket. I would rather vote for a bulldog like HR Clinton than a suck-up like Rice. Her entire testimony was either scripted or a PR farse, as she dodged all important questions with vague (political) answers.

Now I'm sure this is exactly what the White House wanted, but they shouldn't have put Rice out there and then pulled the string to limit her abilities on answering pertinent questions. Not sure who's more to blame, but Rice doesn't look real well at this moment...

Cheney may hurt GW's chance---he's old, questionable financial ties, and somewhat of an enigma---the guy's like a phantom when it comes to the public. More than likely though, it will depend on who Kerry picks as a running mate. Myself, I haven't seen any names mentioned yet, seems they're waiting for the DNC convention to announce the official ticket. Has anyone heard/seen/read any rumors?

And as for Cheney "stepping down" and Rice "stepping in"---goes against the Constitution, when it was amended in the 50's---succession goes to the Speaker of the House to move up to VP. I believe only a Congressional vote can change that course of action, but I could be wrong...

In all honesty, I would be in favor of GW picking his brother Jeb, passing the torch so to say...

What have you been inhaling?
She would be the last person on earth that I would want to see in the White House!
She may even out do Billary when it comes to liberalism!
Bulldog eh? Lying, liberal, bulldog! But not what you'd call the male species!

As for Condi Rice, it's too soon to tell about her future, all the indications I see are favorable though!
