Default Beating up on the Easter Bunny

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news...d-Easter-.html

It may not have been as gruesome as Mel Gibson's movie, but many parents and children got upset when a church trying to teach about Jesus' crucifixion performed an Easter show with actors whipping the Easter bunny and breaking eggs.

People who attended Saturday's show at Glassport's memorial stadium quoted performers as saying, ``There is no Easter bunny,'' and described the show as being a demonstration of how Jesus was crucified.

You'de think they would let the parents know before they whipped the Easter bunny.

Demonstrating anything Biblical with the Easter bunny? Ok. That is pathetic.

Anyone know why the Easter Bunny hides the Easter eggs?
Answer to come later if no one knows.

well i don't believe this was the right way to go about getting the message across. Little guys would be devastated watching something like that. Its true that not enough kids are educated on the real meaning of Easter and the story behind it but i guess it's just like christmas. Kids look forward to Santa and not the birth of Jesus. I think kids should be shown the facts of life but i really don't think this was appropriate in any way.

There are many people of different faiths, including my own, (Baptist) who do not believe in promoting the Santa Claus of Christmas, and the Easter Bunny.
I see nothing wrong with either, as long as your children are taught the true meaning of Christ' birth and resurrection!
I don't think that this radical public display, did anything good for anyones faith! In fact, it is a bad mark against the people who did this, and whatever religious faith they belong to!
Before the religion bashing starts though, remember, in most religions, each individual church, has their own beliefs, and even inside the individual church, members beliefs do differ! So it is a bad reflection on the church, but not on THE Church and our Saviour!

Very good statement, there is no problem with Santa or the Easter Bunny as long as it is just for fun and your child knows the real reason behind Christmas and Easter.

This show was WAY out of line, they simply could have shown what Easter was really about, this is what the kids need to know, not watch the Easter Bunny being whipped, maybe the same group will arrange for some AAA for Santa next year blowing his sled and the reindeer out of the sky!

You been visiting Whosville again, stealthycat?

Sure, stealth - we put up trees, not burn them in our front yards. We put on the the Santa suit to entertain kids, but don't have guys dressed in robes and sandals come in and beat ol' Clause in front of our kids. I have always let the bastardization of the holidays come second to the full and Truthful meaning for my kids. They are now 11 & 12 and fully understand what the meaning of Easter and Christmas are really about.

Charlie - they should not have put on this play in the first place. What a stupid way to preach the gospel.

i don't think beating on the easter bunny generally makes for a good church sevice

but too many people simply look at easter and think of a pink bunny and candy

the true meaning of easter SHOULD be told, but not by bunny bashing
