Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default First Edition

On Tuesday I was able to buy a hard cover 1 st Edition of Fred Bears Field Notes.
It is actually the copy that I took Caribou hunting with me to Ungava Bay back in the 80's. It was in the only copy in all of the Milwuakee County library system and other than myself, no one had checked it out over the last six years. I could not find a hard bound copy new or used anywhere else. I check Amazon.com and all they had were paper backs.
I convinced the Chief Librarian to sell me the copy and in addition gave her enough to purchase a replacement paper back.
She was happy and Im thrilled.

Yes. It's an amazing read in the context of hunters and hunting adventures.
I have read it several times and enjoy the stories and going over his ledgers and packing list. The man kept detail records and interesting notes.
If you can get a copy Im sure any hunter, particuarlly bowhunters will enjoy it. A step back into a simpler more difficult time when it was a good thing to be a mans man.

The guy has always been some one I have looked up to as a hunter and gentleman. Darn good business man also.

Years ago (1964) I met Art La Ha, a hunting buddy and competitor of Fred Bear. He had nothing but praise for Fred, thought he was the greatest hunter of all time. Congratulations on the book, I know it will be a treasure you enjoy for the rest of your days.!!
