Dear Friend:

We know we are all bombarded with the news of the day. But what we are writing about is mind-boggling and timely.

Once again, the NRA leadership has gone too far. This time they have truly gone off the deep end. Unbelievably, the NRA wants to put AK-47s and Uzis back on our streets. And unless the assault weapons ban is renewed this summer, these illegal weapons will be legal again.

So today, in response to this latest NRA madness, we're launching a major Internet campaign for one million signatures and $1 million, to beat back the NRA's extremist agenda once again. We need your help for this most serious issue but first read all about it here. Sign the petition. click here. Contribute to the campaign. It's worth $50 to keep assault weapons off the street. click here.

This is what newspapers around the country said last month when we defeated the NRA's heinous bill that would have given legal immunity to Bull's Eye, the gun shop that armed the D.C. snipers, and other reckless gun dealers:

"The Senate dealt a double blow to the National Rifle Association ..." --Wall Street Journal

"The vote gave Democrats and gun control advocates an unexpected victory in the GOP-controlled Congress ..." --Associated Press

NRA Board member and Senator Larry Craig is second from the left.
Click to hear him sing.
"Both sides agreed that the outcome shifted the political landscape surrounding the contentious issue of gun control." --New York Times

How did all this happen? You did it. You did it with your petition signing, your e-mails to Washington and your financial contributions. Now we need your help again.

It's staggering. But in the face of its defeat on the immunity bill, the NRA actually wants to put illegal Uzis and AK-47s back on our streets. And here's why, directly from the mouth of NRA board member and U.S. Senator Larry Craig on the Senate floor just last month.

Something About Mary...

"Here is ... why a law-abiding gun owner would purchase one of these [semiautomatic] firearms ... This person's name is Mary ... and she happens to use a Colt AR-15. It is a semiautomatic that uses a 20 round-clip. That is what she hunts her deer with. That is what she kills her deer with. So she ... wrote us and sent us a picture saying: Look, what the semiauto ban of 1994 does is it eliminates this kind of firearm, and, in essence, it eliminates the ability of a smaller person to go out into the brush to hunt deer and to recreate in that fashion." -- Congressional Record, March 1, 2004

Here is Osama Bin Laden and his AK-47 rifle. If the assault weapon ban isn't renewed, the semi-automatic version of this rifle will be back on our streets. Insane? We think so.

You know, if you had only told us before that small people needed assault weapons to "recreate," we wouldn't have made such a big deal about banning these weapons ten years ago.

We thought these assault weapons needed to be taken off and kept off the streets forever because:

--Patrick Purdy used an AK-47 to kill five children and wound 29 others at a school in Stockton, CA.
--Because James Huberty killed 21 people and wounded 15 others using an Uzi in San Ysidro, CA.
--And because George Banks killed 13 people in Wilkes-Barre, PA using an AR-15. (Yes, the same AR-15 that Mary uses to "recreate.")

We could go on and on and on but you get the idea. (For more information about these weapons, read this.)

We need to make it crystal-clear to President Bush, who says he supports the assault weapons ban, that he has no choice but to tell House Majority Leader Tom DeLay that he must pass a renewal of the ban. DeLay says he has "no intention" of bringing up the bill for a vote. But what can you expect? Sign the petition.

(This is crucial. This is how we win.) click here Thanks for your support.

In 1995, an anti-terrorism proposal in Congress was blocked because "Tom DeLay ... agreed with the NRA that the proposed restrictions on bomb making infringed on the right to bear arms." Someone please tell us this is all a bad dream.

So our job: Make President Bush live up to his word. We know that might sound extremely difficult given his recent track record ... but that's we intend to do. After all, 78% of Americans think these illegal assault weapons should not be put back on our streets.

And it's not just us who think this is nuts. Some of Bush's closest advisors agree.

Former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani says: "There should be very, very few litmus tests, but someone who now voted to roll back the assault-weapons ban would really be demonstrating that special interest politics mean more to them than life-or-death issues."

Tom Ridge, Secretary of the Homeland Security Department, said when he was in Congress and running for governor, he voted for the ban on assault weapons saying,"We must change our strategy in the war against crime ... As governor ... I will enact a tough, comprehensive crime bill ... [including] the ban of assault weapons ..."

With your help, we will begin immediately with our major advertising and public relations campaign and beat the NRA again. Please ...

On a related note, yesterday a local radio talk show addressed the CCW permit situation here in "Paradise".
No police chief here in Hawaii has issued a CCW permit in the last 10 yrs. HPD claims it's dangerous and that there is widespread support for them not to issue CCW pemits. Despite the fact that the topic was on the "table" for over an hour, not one single caller made a call against the issuance of CCW permits! (when the topic is red light cameras it's a million calls a minute) Where's the support HPD's current policy? It makes me wonder how widespread the support for StopNRA.com really is. Maybe it's just a few loud mouths with big $$?

I tend to suspect that it's just a few loud mouths with almost no money. They still remain a threat to the Second Amendment, but they're so extremist I think they turn the average American off. At least when we talk, we speak the truth and can back it up with all of the facts looking at the entire picture of crime in this country.

I love how they mention Osama with his AK-47 when speaking of the semi-auto SAR's here. Not to mention the three incidents over how many years? And thousands of people a year are killed by criminals with concealable hadnguns, the weapon of choice on the street? Hm....

I just put in my CHP application, and I'm letting people close to me know that I enjoy the security of having the means to defend myself and them in public. Do the same to your family and friends. We love freedom and obey the law. We can set the example that will turn mainstream public support in freedom's favor. It certainly won't be easy, but it is possible. If the founders could found, we can do anything.

Most guns in crimes are not even registered. Yet alone the Uzis and ak-47's that are already on the street. Some of these people must never of heard about the black market.

these people are the ignorant dumba$$es that think laws stop criminals

if the law stopped them they would not be criminals, but instead of looking for ways to stop crime they just want to make more laws and make more criminals
