I received this today from a friend who works for the NY State Dept. of Correctional Services......
Quote:
I'll bet this will get your attention. It did me.
Allah or Jesus? by Rick Mathes This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.
Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems.
I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.
When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams ad clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?"
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!"
I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?"
The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes."
I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!"
The Imam was speechless.
I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?"
You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame.
Senders words: Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about Muslim beliefs. I think everyone in the US should be required to read this, but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. Please pass this on to all your email contacts.

eldeguello I have seen this numerous times in the past and I know for a fact it is total and absolute BS! This crap was started by Christian extremist to slander the Islamic faith.
It is true that inifidels are non-beleivers, but the Koran does not preach to kill all the infidel, it does state to kill infidel that are attacking those of the Islamic faith!
You and who ever sent this trash to you need to do a little research into Islam before you start spouting off this caca.
Two of the worst sins a muslim can commit is suicide and the taking of an innocents life. Please explain to me how the Islamic extremist who commited the atrocities of 9-11 can get around this?
After you are finished explaining that one perhaps you would like to tell me how using the Bible the Catholic Church was able to justify the first Crusades which killed thousands of Muslims, Muslims cities were pillaged and the women raped by the crusaders. Please explain how that was justified Biblically?

Taz, I kinda suspected that the explanation of Islamic position given here might be somewhat slanted, or at least, an extremist position, taken by people like Bin Laden!
I certainly am not an advocate or apologist of this point of view, nor of the Catholic Church, or any other church, conducting crusades or attempting to convert other people to any particular belief or point of view!

Tazman, I agree with your post 100%! I suppose I took for granted the fact we often disagree, and I was pleasantly surprised by your response. It was very well put.
The article itself is probably bunk... however taz, you have yet to win me over about Islam. I understand that there are decent Islamic people, and I believe you when you speak about living in Turkey amongst them. However, the middle east today this "peaceful" Islam is not the Islam being taught.
To me, it seems Christians who kill in the name of God are the exception, and not truely Christian. Muslims seem to me to be the opposite of that - they are told to kill in the name of God, but a lot of them don't, and wish nothing more than to get along.
I would invite you to check out this website taz - it is created by a Palistinian boy who was raised to hate and look forward to killing jews. He was getting into trouble so his parents sent him to the US to study - he met his wife (a christian) and tried to convert her - she agreed on the point that he found error in the bible. Some of this site is graphic, but read his faqs etc. I just don't buy into the fact that terrorists are basing what they do on a warped reading of the quran. http://www.abrahamic-faith.com/
WANWTF the middle east is now and has been for years a hot bed of extremist, Muslim, Jewish and Christian.
The roots of Islam, Judiaism & Christianity are deep in the middle east, but just like with Judiaiasm & Christianity, the vast majority of Muslims do not live in the middle east. There are huge numbers of Islamic people through out Asia, Africa, Europe, micronesia & many other parts of the world.
It is wrong to say that the middle eastern muslims are the radicals and extremist.
A far more accurate statement would be that the middle east is full of radicals and extremist.

06 just because we disagree on some things doesn't mean all things, nor does it mean we can not respect each other. I would be willing to bet you money we would get along just fine face to face. You should hear my brother and I talk politics, oh yea the sparks can fly, but we still love each other!
