I am not against it. Killing farmed deer is not unlike killing farmed cattle, farmed hogs etc. It aint hunting, but every person has the right IMO to keep 20 deer on their high fenced 80 acres or whatever to to kill and eat as they please.
I'm not against it! There is a difference in a "canned hunt" and hunting thousands of acres on a high fenced ranch.
I would not spend the kind of money that these hunts cost, and I do think that they are easier than free-range hunting. I don't think it harms the sport of hunting, unless as I said before, that it is a small acreage canned hunt.

If your mother was an abortion proponent, would you be reading this right now?
Stealthy, are you against pay for shooting deer in small enclosures?
Not in the least. Lead them over to a fence post, tether them and then shoot them - doesn't matter to me, the meat tastes the same best I know.
It aint hunting though.
JagMagMan - I have 50 acres, I keep it stocked with 40 bucks between 180 and 200" P&Y. I have return clients that pay $5000 a year to kill these deer.
Are you against that ? Why ?
I have 50 acres, I keep it stocked with 40 deer. I have family and neighbors who come over and shoot these deer to eat, selling the deer, trading for stuff etc. Great eating.
Only insofar as deer/elk farming seems to have had something to do with the origin and spread of CWD! Otherwise, it would be no different from raising cattle, goats, or bison.

Theres a growing demand for "canned hunts" in this country. The vast, vast majority of people dislike those types of "outfitters"
Question - is it better to be a hunter (like you and I are) and oppose canned hunting or to stand up and say that its wrong, its not hunting and should be stopped.
And how would you place regulations to define a "canned hunt" and a high fenced HUNT ?
I'm not against deer farming at all; after all, venison is delicious! It's important to keep any pf the herd from escaping into the wild in order to minimize disease transmission, but good enclosures can take care of that.
