Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default ...one Nation under God...

So I am watchin the TV and see grown people arguing over these words in our "pledge".
All I could think of was WTF is going on with our country? Never mind the huge waste of tax dollars, but what about the moral fabric of our society? First we take out prayer and start handing out condoms. What does this say about us as people? Stop praying and start screwing? I mean it must be OK when the past president of these United States get caught cheating and the socialists/democrats/liberals in this country brush it off stating that "what's the real crime?"
I am pissed. What will be next? Taking "In God We Trust" off all of our money? I don't hear anyone bitching about that...yet. Maybe the folks championing the "on Nation under God" thing aren't threatened by our money. These people need to get a life. Jerks.

Yes, because some individuals don't like "Under God", they take it to court.........rediculous, just live with it. As for sex education, its a good thing, but handing out condoms is not right............makem do it the old way, buy them at a gas station restroom.[8D]

and when you used to go to court they said, "raise your right hand and put your hand on the bible" then said " do you swear to tell the truth...so help you God?"
Now you just go through the motions but you are still doing the same thing and silently acknowlege the same thing. What changes?
We came to this country to escape religious persecution. The founding fathers started this country as ...One Nation Under God. Does this mean nothing anymore?

I understand. But being on the opposite side of the argument, I'm just tired of repeating myself. The Pledge was written in 1892 to mark the 400th anniverary of Columbus' discovery of the New World; the "under God" came in 1954 at the height of the Cold War.

The founding fathers didn't want to add God to everything because they realized that even a mildly theocratic government is synonomous with tyarnny. Religious conservatives came and began changing things long after the founders had passed.

First of all "under God" was not part of the pleges or our "moral fabric" to begin with. They had to waste the tax dollars when they drew up their bills about it, had their meetings about it, and finally voted on it back in the 1950's. So why not waste the dollars again doing the same thing again? Are you just mad that they are wasting the dollars this time over removing them instead of adding them?

Were you or your parents (i don't know how old you are) bitching about it back in the 50's when they were wasting all of that money trying to add those words?

IMO the real crime is when the parents stop being parents to their children and let them essentially run the house hold. Raise your own children according to your morals. If you do that you won't need to worry about them needing condoms from the schools. Sex is a completely natural instinct. Humans are the only species on this planet that tries to put a lid on this instinct. I know that we brought it upon ourselves with us being so far advacned beyond other animals but we still have some of the same exact animal instincts and one of those is sex. For those childred that were not fortunate enough to be raised by parents that actually cared about them and gave them the guidance they need I am glad that they are at least able to get condoms somewhere. I just hope that they use them.

The only way that this will change is if the parents get off their buts and start being parents again.

The Baptist Minister Francis Bellamy wrote the Pledge of Allegiance in 1892. He was forced to leave his Boston church the previous year because of the socialist bent of his sermons. (He shared the political sentiments of his first cousin, Edward Bellamy, who wrote two socialist utopian novels, Looking Backward and Equality.) Francis Bellamy was later hired by the The Youth's Companion, a popular family magazine at the time. His writings reflected a Christian Socialist vision of a government-managed economy with "political, social and economic equality for all."

that's right a socailist
