Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default I rarely post on Politics, because it gets me

into trouble...
But here goes...
I happened to be home sick and watched the morning news. On it was the gentleman (and I use this word very lightly) Newdow, (I believe that is his name)
He is the guy that is going to the supreme court to get the words: "Under God" taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance.
He was arrogant, rude, and degrading. He is using his child to promote his own views and I find that disgusting and degrading! I really don't care what his stand or his views are, when you use your own child to promote them, I pretty much feel you are lower than dung.
His ex-wife was also on the show. She is for leaving the words in the pledge and has tried to keep her child out of the whole issue. I admired her. She is a christian and wanted nothing to do with the whole thing but was dragged into the whole fray.
I am sickened by this whole thing, and even more disgusted by this guys whole attitude. I think if you want to be an Atheist, then do it, but don't use your kids to get media attention!

Double Amen....

That guy (Michael Newdow) needs a serious butt kicking. A nice dose of reality will help too.

So are you a Christian or a Muslim? Either way, it seems that you want infidels to be judged and punished at the hands of mortals, rather than by God.

Why do you want/need "Under God" in the Pledge? Like I've said before: if you want to get to Heaven, then go to church". We don't need the Feds involving themselves in religious matters.

Aught,
The "Under God" was put there because when the colonies were established, they were established under this pretense: America was the land of freedom to worship their God. That is part of what they fought and died for. I realize it was added later. But it was added, to seperate USA from the other countries that believed differently. I am pretty proud of that. If you don't want to say the pledge..then so be it. Students are not forced to say it at all any more, which to me, is very sad...But anyone who does not believe in a God or even in loving this country, does NOT have to say the Pledge of Allegiance....
and for that fact...they don't even have to live in America as far as I am concerned...but that's beside the point...
If you don't like the pledge, don't say it...but leave it as it is!
Just my opinion!!!!

Once again I have to agree with Aught Six .
Keep the Lord in church where he belongs and is respected .

Kevin, that is an interesting perspective. God creates the entire universe, and gives us all the strength to partake of the universe each day, and you want to banish him to the confines of a church. Hmmmmmm....

Aught Six, I don't think Butch said that Newdow needs his butt kicked because he is trying to have the words "Under God" removed from the pledge. . . He needs his butt kicked because he is using his daughter to promote his personal agenda. He does not have custody of his daughter, his ex-wife does. The girl's mother takes her to church, and what is more, the girl is said to ENJOY going to church AND saying the pledge each morning at school. I'd have to agree... the guy needs to have his butt kicked.

Speaking of the words "Under God" meanwhile, why should the court be able to dictate that the words be removed? I saw a survey reported on ABC's Good Morning America this a.m. that said that 90 percent - NINETY PERCENT - of Americans polled believe that Newdow is wrong. This is just another example of our society that is ruled by the courts. There is no such thing as Democracy in America any longer. The courts are not only enforcing the rules, they are making them.

Thank you, Ben.... Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. That Michael Newdow guy is a jerk, that's all. It's like, okay, fine, so you're an atheist. Big deal. You believe what you believe, I believe what I believe, and we'll be fine with it. I'd just love to meet up with him and say, "So you're an atheist? Really? Swear to God? I mean, if you were in court and put your hand on the bible, you'd still affirm to "tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God"?!?!? [8D]

Newdow really likes getting all this attention focused on him. He comes across as an arrogant, "smarter than you," liberal idiot. After hearing him several times, he sounds just like the PETA spokesmen and liberal activists that get all the media attention. He has this and numerous other lawsuits in all just to remove any reference at all to God. And he's using the excuse of his daughter's choice as his reason. I agree, he desperately needs to have his butt severely kicked.
