Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Better or Worse - did ya'll do your taxes and come out better than last year (either not having to pay in as much or getting more back in return) or worse ? Me ?

I don't pay taxes.

Actually, I haven't done them yet - procrastination is built into my genes - comes from the many billions of years ago when man was evolving from a mud puddle.

I always get my taxes done early...use TurboTax. Its been getting to the point where I get a little bit back from state and federal every year, but the refunds keep getting smaller since I am losing dependants (the kids), we do not withhold anything on the wifes SSA checks.....a couple hundred dollars of refunds isn't too bad. I just don't want to get like years ago, where they would owe me thousands....I think one year it was like $7000.
That was many moons ago. I would rather have a little back, then I know the witholding is right

I owe $1.5K Fed, and $450 state on top of what I paid in already. Screwed Again
Plus the $400 check we received last August this was deducted off this years Child Tax Credit.

The wife and I owe $2k to the feds.....broke even with the state and local though. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, it was all my fault....I made a change to my W-4's early last year when we were buyng a house(needed a little extra for about two months)....some dipstick forgot about it until the middle of Feb. 2004 when he did the taxes![:@] Lesson learned....

How'd I do on federal taxes?!?!?

AWFUL!!!!!!!! [:@][:'(]

My wife and I have to fork over close to $2000 in federal taxes!!!!! Why? Well part of it was my fault, where I didn't change enough of my withholding from my USCG retirement pay. On top of that, I'm doing great as a computer programmer with steady income. My wife is the co-head teacher at her daycare center and is doing good too.

The most important thing that we discovered is that our twin girls are now 17 (will be 18 in May).... {{pay attention to the next statement}}

DID YOU KNOW THAT ONCE YOUR KID TURNS 17, YOU NO LONGER QUALIFY FOR THAT "CHILD CARE TAX CREDIT" THING (....you know where you get that extra $600 per kid....). WELL I GOT TWINS, AND LOST OUT ON THE EXTRA 600 BUCKS!! ($600 + $600 = $1200)!!! MY WIFE AND I NORMALLY WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY $780-$800 IN TAXES, BUT WITH THE GIRLS BEING 17, WE GOT ROYALLY SLAMMED!!! IT HAS BEEN SAID THAT SINCE THEY CHANGED THE TAX LAWS, THERE IS ONLY ONE YEAR BEFORE THE KID GOES TO COLLEGE, WHERE YOU GET SLAMMED. AFTER THAT, YOU CAN WRITE OFF THE COLLEGE EXPENSES.

If you had taxable income, you did better than you would have done under the previous administration's tax codes...every one of you.
