Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Art Rooney & The Passion

Well , he basically called Mel Gibson a wacko and received 30,000 pieces of mail regarding the issue the largest in CBS history. He says :

"I think the mail was a good indication of how bitterly divided our country is right now,"

What do you take this to mean ?

Also, here is a quote from an email he received:

"asinine, bottom-dwelling, numb-skulled, low-life, slimy, sickening, gutless, spineless, ignorant, pot-licking, cowardly pathetic little weasel."

Was this necessary ? He's 85 and and a very good journalist. Guess you cant express an opinion on anything anymore.

So Rooney can express his opinion by calling Mel Gibson a wacko but someone else can't express their opinion by calling Rooney a name?

I guess that freedom of speech only goes one way?

I've previously found Rooney (Andy of course) to be pompous, arrogant and plain out of touch with a lot of things in life. He obviously stuck his foot in his mouth and now wonders why he's tasting shoe leather. Guess I should add a few other words about his obvious lack of comprehension. But then, that is almost a presumption to begin with, isn't it?

I would say they are even in the name calling. Rooney read this one on the air, thought it was humorous.

ok ...got it ....Andy. Anyway , I think wacko is a tad less inciteful and cruel than what Andy was called. If this had been about any other subject there would have been not near the response.

Cruel? Wah, cry me a handful. A man goes on public radio and calls a guy a wacko simply because the guy chose to make a movie about Jesus Christ, then he should be prepared for whatever verbal backlash might come his way.

Andy Rooney used to be fun to listen to, but sometime in the last twenty years or so, the ham and cheese fell out of his sandwich.
