Default how do they keep getting these gun laws past

i was bored tonight so i started looking up stats on gun ownership people, etc

this is what i found

in 2000 there were +/- 281,000,000 people in the US(census)
in 2000 there were +/- 72,300,000 children under 18 years of age(census)
in 2000 there were +/- 80,000,000 gun owners(i found estimates as high as 90 and as low as 70 so i used the average of the two)

so if you take out the kids you have 208,700,000 could be voters
so the percntage of gunowners to could be voters is 38.3%

now i know that 38.3% is not the majority but not everyone whom does not own a gun is for gun control and i would dare to guess that gun owners would not be out to make themselves criminals
I looked for a stat on non gun owners that were for gun control but could not find a legitimate source

so how do they keep getting all these new gun laws passed

Cause it is all about the shock value and the media.

A good citizen stoping a crime by just brandishing a gun and not firing a shot is not nearly as shocking and news worthy as some yack off that mows down five ot ten people with an AK after he got loaded on crank.

Then the victims famalies are pissed off at all gun owners wether they deserve it or not. They get their media time all over the country and end up blaming the guns instead of the idiots behind the gun pulling the trigger.

Then the yack off politicians know that peoples bleeding hearts will remember the bad thing that happend with the AK. They then feed on peoples good nature to end crime and again blame it on the AK instead of the idiot loaded on crank pulling the trigger. That fuels their agenda and sways votes.

There area few more things I have never been able to figure out about the gun control laws myself, for example; Why don't the NAACP, CORE and other racially oriented groups fight these laws as being discriminatory? Many of the first gun control laws were blatantly aimed at minorities in general and blacks in particular, yet not a word from the minority leadership on this.

Hi Coastie,

Because these groups are in the business of selling "victimhood"! If the groups mentioned were to advocate that the people arm themselves and stop being victims......the groups would be out of business! Those groups gain strength....as the "members" gain weakness, (ie. perpetual victimhood).

They would literally cease to exist, because they were no longer needed! No entity, (at least very seldom in history), wants to put itself out of work. So they will continue to sell perpetual victimhood and people with a victim mindset......will continue to buy into it!

I guess because of what James mentioned.(Democrats!)
They are all interlinked those groups& the dems - they will not fight there own party& one of its major social issues gun control. They would be biting the hand that feeds them,& gives them there major poltical powers..those Demo rats.
Ya cant call a democat a discrimaninating/ racist even if true - those words specificly are for the republicans.( i think thats how it works anyways lol)

How do they keep getting new gun laws passed?
1. Gun owners sitting back, doing nothing, saying Canada, Brittain, and Austrailia can't happen here!

2. As others have already mentioned, scare tactics and liberal dummycrap lies!

3. Hysteria over tragic crimes, cause people to blame the gun instead of the criminals! Especially when the liberal media puts their spin on it!
