Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Church sues city over

Municipal government barred believers from using public facility

A church in Terrell, Texas, has filed suit against the city after it was banned from meeting in a publicly owned facility.

According to a statement from the Liberty Legal Institute, Purpose Life Church wrote to the city last month in an attempt to prevent legal action, but the city did not change its policy.

"Government officials may not discriminate against churches. We will do everything in our power to stop this discrimination," said Kelly Shackelford, chief counsel with Liberty Legal Institute.

The church entered into an agreement with the Kaufman County YMCA in December 2003 to use the public facility on weekends, the legal group says. Services were held at the Y for three weeks before local officials stepped in. The city then implemented its policy prohibiting church activities from taking place in any city-owned buildings, including the public facility leased by the Kaufman County YMCA.

"It's troubling that the city has singled out churches for unfair treatment. I doubt the good of the people of Terrell agree with this discrimination," said Brad Lamberth, lead attorney on the case.

Liberty Legal Institute's Laura Simpson says the case is similar to another the group took on in Balch Springs, Texas. That case involved government officials putting a stop to prayer, devotionals and hymn singing at a local senior center because the facility was publicly owned. Simpson says the city lost the case and was forced to pay damages and attorney fees.
Try to convince me there isn't an ideological assault against Christianity [:@][:'(]

Didn't you know . . . ?

Christians are the one group that everyone is encouraged to discriminate against. The ACLU has made it popular and the media endorses the behavior.

I thought everyone knew . . .

If there is freedom of religion, then why is that church banned from meeting?? Thats more like obstucting churches from meeting, and that doesn't seem to go along with the idea of freedom[:@]

It sucks how some people/organizations twist the Bill of Rights.

Isn't it amazing how if you say something with a straight face enough times people will believe it. Like "The constution says Sepration of church and state".
A courtroom is as much of a represntation of the "state" as anything could be yet they manage to find room for the bible in it.
It surely must be near the final days when you have judges breaking the law to perform same sex marriages under the guiese of "equal protection under the law" while re-writing the law to to make certian Christians get "less than equal protection under the law"

YoungMen'sChristianAssociation

Lee, it was foretold...

John 15
19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
20 "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A slave is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
21 "But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me.

It's to be expected...

Bless you Brother...

I heard a sermon on this one many moons ago and it stuck with me. I keep it in the back of my mind whenever I see signs that the rest of the world is riding the rocket sled to hell.
