Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I have a feeling that vc is demonstrating the power of one to do one of two things! Stir the pot or pull our chains![8D]

This board has TENS OF THOUSANDS of members...

This year I will introduce a young person to the sport of hunting and/or fishing.

It may be the child of a friend or family member but I will spend some of my time to open the world of nature and its wonderment to someone else.

It will cost me my time, but I will be well rewarded. How you ask? I will get to see his or her smile as they reel in their first fish, or hear a turkey gobble for the first time...you get the idea.

There are many ways this could be done regardless of where you live.

Imagine, if you will...thousands of board members introducing one new person; thousands of smiles on the faces of thousands of kids.

This board has tens of thousands of members...if each one took a little time and introduced one young person to our sport... would the world be a better place?

This year do it... and then come to this board and tell your story. Post it and encourage others to do the same and post their stories too. Keep it going.

The young person wins. You win. The sport wins. The board shares something positive and wins.

Can you imagine?

I'm in. Are you?

I'm in. I have already promised a little 7-yr-old girl that I will take her bunny and bird hunting this year. She's very excited! I'll probably end up taking her little 5-yr-old sister too, so she doesn't feel left out! My husband took the 7-yr-old fishing for the time awhile back and she had a blast. She didn't know what was better---catching her first fish or getting to drive the boat! The girls come from a family that doesn't do any real out-doorsy stuff at all, so they really get a kick out of the stuff we do with them!

Im taking a younger man on his first Elk hunt this September in CO, although he is paying his own way

I think you have a good point and challenge of sort their VC.

I, prior to your post have started a couple (father and two adult son) of fellows into bow hunting this winter. They aren't kids but they have very young children and Im sure they will move them into the sport in time.
The one son on his third or forth trip to the indoor range got his first robinhood. Prior to this Janruary he never shot a bow of any type.
I have done this type of thing in the past through the BSA, Explore units over the years. It can be enjoyable and does take time and patiences. The reward is worth the effort.
