Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default CCWs - Any different than AWs?

All this talk on assault weapons has made me think about CCWs. There's talk in states to allow these, many states already have them, etc... Heck, even in MI where they've had the CCW laws for a few years now, they've even lightened up on the restrictions of where you can and can't carry for example. Does anyone know of any statistics that shows the affects the CCW has had on crime rate? Why is it that the CCW is allowed more and more? Don't you find this strange? I know the police like the CCW, at least they do here in MI. The other day my dad got pulled over by a state trooper. The first thing you have to do is tell the cop you are carrying and have a CCW, otherwise if found out later, it's a felony. When my dad told the cop he has a CCW and where his pitols were, the cop said, "Good for you! Glad to see that!" The cop never asked for his permit, or to see any of the guns my dad had on him. I'm under the impression that police don't like the idea of having this AWB not carried over. But why?

Bob about every state [if not 100% of them] that has a CCW in place has saw a drastic drop in violent crime, Heck all they have to do is ask the thugs in prison what scares them and they all say a person that might be packing a firearm.

The AWB is a crock just like most of the other anti-gun laws being cooked up. The FOP seems to support it, but I wonder if that is from the rank and file membership or from the leadership. Just as most rank and file police officers support the right to keep and bear arms and the Chiefs of Police organization is against it. Those in leadership positions for some reason tend toward the left rather than the right in many things, afraid of the people I guess. Same with the unions, the rank and file membership is pretty much a conservative group while the leadership is strictly leftward leaning if not communist.
