Default Finland "Drunk" tax to be reduced!!!!

One of the greatest past times in Finland is to drink until they get drunk.
Now with their membership in the EU, Fins will be allowed to bring in beer and booze with no tax to their country( such as Estonia). The Fin government who runs socialist "state stores" (about 315 such stores) for the only sale a spirits is reducing the tax in an attempt to keep the Fins from running across the border to buy their booze. Truck loads are lined up and ready to roll.
Some prices will go down as much as 40%. Beer which is about $1.24 a bottle will go down 14% and Koskenkorva the popular vodka will be 36% cheaper.
Near Helsinki, Sinebrychoff, the countries largest brewery has been getting ready since Jan 1st and will have increased there employees from 150 to 500 to meet the demand for more booze to sell to the over indulging Fins.
The greatest fear in the Fin government is the increase in the already drunken violence common in Finland.

(Source AP. Matti Huuntanen)

Now will we, the USA, have to send in the Girl Scouts to keep the Fins from hurting themselves or should this matter be left to the UN or Alcoholics Anonymous?

I have a feeling that this may be one for the French to handle, I am sure the French military would not have to many casulties from the drunken Finns as they lay in the gutter in a drunken stupor![8D]

Excellent and timely story to report logs!

Yeah! To import from estonia is not for me I live too far. Friday 0,5 l of koskenkorva about 15€ today 9.50€. More money left to other things. And if I want to get good stuff I buy home made. Only 3€ / 1l.

150 to 500 because of nobody wanted to buy beer on old prices. They have to hire that many trucker to transfer one night all that beer to the shops. Sunday in one shop where I wanted to buy sauna beer there was only four botles of beer left. That shop had buy beer last time in 2003.

And French HAH they can't handle good drinking they only drink wine wich causes terrible hangover. And if they try to medle with drunken Finnish they will have casulties.

And when you send those girls make sure they are old enough to have fun with

I think the UN would be most appropriate.

The real question is would you all be sober enough to be able to take care of things? You know I am sure that when you drink to much it takes the lead out of your pencil![8D]

When you drink too much you are dead anything less is good. well until the next morning.
We don't use pencil to take care of things

Wise man said that " you haven't drink enough if you can lie down on the floor with out holding something" (free translation)

What a sad commentary for a country. The only time they make the international news is when their violent drunken behavior becomes cheaper for their people to obtian.

How can anything in a country as small as Finland be too far to drive? Most of our States are bigger than Funlad. Further is there anybody there sober enough to drive????
