Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I think there will be hundreds of thousands of Cubans celebrating in the streets, at least until another despot in a shabby military uniform takes over. Though I think once casto is dead, the US will step in and help the country out.

It's wery humain to wait until Fidel smoke his last cigar[8D].

When US steps in it usually means riots, violence, new coverment that kisses your ass for a while and then get back to the old corrupted system. Do you think that they want your help after decades of blockade and indifferent policy ? Meaning that US hasn't been wery active on that issue.

I doubt that if Cubans were given a chance for freedom that they would ever within a generation allow their country to be controlled by a despotic ruler.

These people risk their lives in hoards by building rickety rafts out of old tires and whatever other garbage they can make float and paddle 90 miles through shark infested waters to get to freedom, knowing that there is very little of making it to the USA and also knowing that they will probably be executed if caught by the Cuban government.

The Cuban people who live in America are some of the fiercest anti-socialists/communists that you will find. If even half of the people who live in Cuba are like them, are freed, and allowed to arm themselves, there is no way they will make the mistakes their fathers and grandfathers did by allowing a Castro to come to power.

Yes about a year ago there were riots and looting in Liberia and who was the the entire world screaming to to take care of the problem? Hint: it wasn't france, it wasn't russia, nor was it Finland (I'll capitalize your country since I still have some respect for it) but the good old US of A. We ended up sending about 5 Marines and maybe a humvee there and all of the civil unrest stopped immediately. That's the kind of respct the US Military commands.

Another example was the Balkans- I'm not going to pretend that its a success story as heire are still US troops over there keeping the peace, but Europe would not get involved and stop the "ethnic cleansing" in their own backyard even though they faced the same horrer not 50 years earlier. Methinks that most of the valiant and brave men who had cast iron testicles were killed off in the two world wars leaving a bunch of eunuch simps- well except for in small pockets of Europe, notably the British Isles.

In the 20th and 21st century the USA has had to step up to the role of being the babysitter of the world as most other countries are too imature, irresponsible, and cowardly to step up and deal with problems in their backyard.

Sorry that I once again draw discussion on this direction. Didn't mean to. But that US stepping in and all is fine Was just too hilarious.

To the original subject. Do you think that Army invasion is necessary or is it enought that US loose those restrictions. Or is it enough that big corporations take over cheaper labour and collectors buy '50 cars. That might lead same sitsuation as it was before Castro.

John Bear what do you see Finland doing now for Cuba and what do you see Finland doing for Cuba once Fidel kicks the bucket?

I have a feeling that the US will let the cards fall where they may to a point in Cuba once Fidel passes. More than likely when Fidel dies there will be a bloodbath in Cuba as the populous revolts when the Cuban leaders start fighting amoung themselves to gain the power that Castro held. It would not surprise me to see either the US or the UN step in once the atrocities start.

It's not my neighbour. EU might have some say about that but Finnland we can make only nice gesture by saying our oppinion. And our current coverment , if something happens, send few truks of troops with UN marks, if eaven that. It's just too far from us.

Well when Castro dies, Im sure the Cubans will take whatever action is needed. If they don't establish some orderly form of government in a resonable period of time we, the USA, will step in and do what is best for us and the people of Cuba and nobdy is in a position to do or say anything about it.
Maybe Canada who loves to vacation there will have an interest but we, the USA, will determine who will be involved in what goes on 90 miles off our shores.
Now put that in your pipe and smoke it sport.
