Man Killed When SUV Drags Him 81/2 Miles

Sunday, February 29, 2004

SPRINGFIELD, Va. "” A sport utility vehicle hit a man on an interstate highway Sunday and dragged his body -- apparently lodged in the suspension (search) -- 81/2 miles to the driver's home, police said.

Josuel Galdino, 25, of Lorton, was charged with manslaughter (search), driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run (search) after calling police to report a man's body was caught in the front-end suspension of his SUV.

Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Sophia Grinnan said Galdino hit Fitsum Gebreegziabher, 27, of Woodbridge, who had gotten out of his car after getting a flat tire on Interstate 95 southwest of Washington, D.C.

Grinnan said Galdino was traveling in a southbound lane near the Fairfax County Parkway when he hit Gebreegziabher.

Galdino was held without bond Sunday. Arraignment was scheduled for Monday morning, said police spokesman Terry Williams.

It was not immediately clear whether Galdino had an attorney.

This dude had to have been drunk out of his gourd to really believe he hadn't hit they guy! The sad thing is the penalties associated with vehicular manslaughter is no where near enough for what this man deserves.

I actually had to wonder if my boss was the driver after I heard about this on the radio. Man from Lorton, driving an SUV, had a DUI back in his college days. I didn't give him enough credit, it seems.

In any case, this is a pretty scary story. I spend a lot of time on the highways around Northern Virginia, and I certainly don't want to end up roadkill in someone's driveway. I hope they nail him for this.

This is really getting all too common, hitting people and not stopping or dragging them away.
Lock this A-hole up for life or hand him from an overpass until his lifeless body rots and falls for the scavengers to feast upon in the roadway to hell.

akbound I agree that would be a start, but the problem is he would die too quickly.

Just tie him up and place him on 495 around 7:30 Monday morning. Every 15 seconds or so when traffic begins to creep forward, he'll have an oppurtunity to ponder his crime.

They could "foam him down" every half mile......or so. That ought to insure he last.....most of the trip!

Dave

P.S. Maybe it's not only my humor that's twisted!
