This is the first time i've ever been fired in my life -- I wasn't there of course.
I was at work until 9pm on wednesday trying to fix a circuit board problem that was found 3 years after I asked that it be fully tested out. It was supposed to ship today. Yesterday i was there until 3:30pm when I became so frustrated I was shaking with anger and told the test engineer that the version of code he should check was on his desk I told him "i have to leave, i'm going to explode otherwise"....
I thought leaving was the best option to totally losing it....
apparently the powers that be (the manager of all of engineering is a vile snake and is hated by virtually all -- except his butt buddies from another company) decided that was "unacceptable".....
so today I left with the electrician etc. and got a call at home from another engineer there saying that IT was shutting my system down and I was paged to the director's office.....
It could be for the best, I was absolutely miserable there.
It's a damn weird feeling though... regret, sorry with a big dose of relief...
damn this is weird.
That's similat to the way that I decided to enrole in gunsmithing school. I got so tired of starting a job only to hate it 6 months later and quit and find a new one searching for something that I liked to do. I was miserable and I was making my family miserable. Finally I got fired from my last job and decided enough was enough and said that I was going to do something that would make me happy and that I loved to do.
It is certainly a wiered feeling of relief and uncertainty.
You know what you would like to do. Now go and do it.
And GOOD LUCK!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, you obviously hated your job. It's proably will end up being the best day of your life.
First thing I did was called my family and told them I was canned. Then I left voicemail with about 4 managers telling them that I was going to bring a box in on monday to clean my stuff out, don't worry, I won't make a scene, just clean my crap out and leave.
They generally call the milwaukee police in when they fire someone.. that is how childish this management is.. .. If they do call the cops, I want you guys to be my witnesses, when I pack up my box o'crap, i'm going to run in circles out on the shop floor -- see if they'll pepper spray me...
Good things will come of this but it is also a time of uncertainty and can be scary if the money becomes an issue. Need to not relax but seriously decide what you want to do and get going. I sat around for a few months and was not happy unless I was hunting or fishing which I did a lot of. If your bosses read this site they need to be nervous. It was not good reading about yer misery and I would have shot my dog if he was that unhappy. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.
As others have said and as you know, you hated your job and your career. The door is now WIDE open. You are now forced into making a decision about your career. Let me say I've been layed off two times, and fired once so I know what you are feeling right now. Let me also say that Monday is the first day of the rest of your life. You are now free to get back on your feet and choose what that means to make you happy. As hard as it is to listen to and how cliche it really is, but it is so true - things will work out for the better. Better job. Better pay. And most of all - the opportunity to make a decision in life that will ultimately make you happier than you've ever been. I'll send a few prayers up for you. Congrats on your new life. God Bless. Keep us informed too!

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a civilization, it expects what never was and what never will be.
Stay centered on who and what are the important things in your life! Get your things from the office.....take a couple days to calm your nerves....take stock of where you are in your life (financially and otherwise).......and in two or three weeks, (you'll know when it's time), redirect your energy towards your "new profession......or position".
That's one dragon down!
Good luck......and best wishes.
