I caught part of it on tonights national news. It passed the Senate.If it passes the House G.W Bush said he would sign it. It was mentioned that the Democrats want to add Amendment(s).Not 100% sure but I believe GW said there would be no Amendments.I sure hope this goes through.The only bad thing would be hearing all the Lawyers whine.

It has already passed the House last year. I called today and asked my Senators to vote NO if it included the Assault ban extention as an amendment. That is what the DEMOCRATS were trying to add. Don't know how it turned out.

Default RE: Senate voting on frivilous lawsuits today

I got this email today, I hope its not to late. Im now headed to find out what happened.

GUN RIGHTS ARE ON THE LINE TODAY

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED ON SENATE VOTE

GIVE TEN MINUTES TO FREEDOM, RIGHT NOW

February 25, 2004

KeepAndBearArms.com -- Today will be a day to find out
if a "Republican-controlled Congress" means anything positive
for gun owners and gun rights. A round of Senate votes will
happen today that includes not only the bill protecting gun
manufacturers from frivolous lawsuits but the potential renewal
of the Clinton/Feinstein semi-auto rifle and magazine ban and
the "let's kill gun shows and put more gun owners in prison"
bill. The time to act is right now -- even if it's after hours or
early morning as you read this.

We're writing to you today to notify you, in case you don't
already know, that there will be amendments added the the
'Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act' to both greatly
restrict gun shows and to extend and possibly even make
permanent the Clinton/Feinstein semi-auto rifle and magazine
ban.

It is time for you to act. Right this minute. Drop what you
are doing for the next ten minutes and stand with your fellow
gun owners across the nation. Put your foot down, and put it
down firmly.

If your Senator is at least a marginal supporter of the Second
Amendment, you definitely want to make contact and express
strong opposition to the gun show restrictions and the
rifle/magazine ban -- even if it means killing the bill intended
to protect gun manufacturers from loopy, failing litigation
strategies. If your Congressmen are the kind of people who
would rather see a woman raped than a rapist shot, they don't
care what you have to say anyway -- so contact another
Senator's office. Pick a Republican. A Republican majority
in both houses of Congress needs to mean something for gun
owners, and now is the time for them to prove that it does.

If you want more information about what is happening in
the Senate today, that information is contained below the
pre-written letter. If the above information is enough to get
you to invest a small amount of time on the telephone today
-- in defense of the Second Amendment and your unalienable
rights -- below is a link to get the contact information for your
Senator. Since you're taking action today for the cause of
freedom, go ahead and contact your U.S. Representative,
too.

FIND YOUR SENATOR & REPRESENTATIVE:
http://capwiz.com/gunowners/dbq/officials/

If you are not willing to make the call, perhaps you'd be
willing to send a fax. What follows is a pre-written letter,
which you can edit into your own words, print and fax:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear ____________,
As your constituent, I am writing to express my deep
concern over gun control legislation before you now.
Specifically, I OPPOSE any renewal or expansion of
the so-called "assault weapons" ban and I OPPOSE
any further restrictions on gun shows.
I understand that amendments regarding gun shows
and the Clinton/Feinstein "assault weapons" ban will
be added to the bill designed to protect gun manufacturers
from frivolous lawsuits. While protecting gun manufacturers
from the ridiculous lawsuits gun banners are using to drain
their resources is important, it's not important enough to
justify the passage of ANY other gun controls. It's a choice
between dollars and rights! Don't sell my rights for a few
dollars of liability protection. Therefore, if the gun manufacturer
liability protection bill goes to the floor with other gun control
amendments attached to it, I urge in the strongest of terms
that you kill the bill. Period.
Preventing gun bans and protecting gun shows is far more
important than the gun manufacturer bill could ever be.
If the "assault weapons" ban is renewed or gun shows are
further restricted, Mr. Bush is going to be a one-termer just
like his father. I will be one person helping to make sure of
that -- and I will be equally unforgiving at the polls toward
my Congressmen if these anti-Second-Amendment bills pass,
too.
If a Republican-controlled Congress actually means anything
for gun owners, now is your chance to prove it.
We have too many gun laws. Repeal of bad, useless,
fruitless gun laws is what is needed -- and there are many
that meet those criteria.
Sincerely,
I checked C-spanII late last night , they said the senate overwhelmingly voted to "invoke cloture" whatever that means on this bill.
